COVID era world.

Not post-COVID world.

It’s still here.

Interesting read thanks. Useful, detailed and nuanced comparison. This bit, ooff.🤯😷
and yet vaccines access being removed here in UK for previously eligible groups. Now only o75's are offered it.
But it's far easier to just stick our heads in the sand and call it 'mild'.🤦‍♂️

This is a fantastic article I encourage everyone to read.

The damaging effects of COVID on our immune system are not up for debate.

It’s not hypothetical.

And it’s not limited to “only the vulnerable”.

This is why many of us mask. Respirators like an N95 do a great job preventing covid.

Labour are about to upend a bucket of petrol onto the Reform immigration binfire.

The assertion that we've "lost control of Britain's borders" is an absolute godsend for Reform, because that's what they have been bleating about all along.

Grim, grim, grim.

When I said we weren't here to be disappointed with Labour but to replace them. I meant it.

Omg. We need to go to the vet soon too. Thanks for the heads up. Our neighbour has had it this last week too after having it back in August. It's doing the rounds despite the lower than expected wastewater figs. I have opticians this week too.😬

Well unless Labour pivot to re-join sometime soon, talk is worthless. Starmer has already said we won't be rejoining in his lifetime. Unless of course he does another epic U-turn on promises made. He admittedly has previous form on that.

Britain will not rejoin EU in my lifetime, says Starmer
Labour leader also says he cannot foresee circumstances where UK would re-enter single market or customs union

The concentration of wealth in the hands of a few isn't just bad for our economy. It's corrosive to our democracy.

When the wealthy and well-connected control our political system, regular people don't have a voice.

The result? The demagoguery and corruption we're seeing now.

Many on the right will try and belittle and undermine what’s happening.

But here’s the truth. Tens of thousands are joining Greens. Polls are at record highs. People are just starting to feel hope again.

You know I have to agree, he's shot himself and the cause in the foot. Opposition will forever bring it up now. Even if we have a whopping SNP/Green majority.🤦‍♂️

Ironically presently we're doing what Boris Johnson originally proposed - let covid rip, limit/restrict vaccine access, & try to achieve "natural"(by infection) herd immunity. We just call it summer "flu" or a 'cold' now instead. Covid is still rampant (esp right now) & still causing excess deaths.

Boris Johnson, "I tried to get the scientists to say that lockdown was a bad idea"

*they all laugh*

There were 26,000 covid deaths because Boris Johnson ignored scientists and delayed the first lockdown by a week

The Spectator (owned by GBNews owner Paul Marshall - estimated wealth of £800 million) doesn’t like taxing wealth fairly.

I wonder how they got to this editorial decision?

Let’s tax wealth fairly, fund front line services & make hope normal again.

I have long suggested that the solution to brexit was English independence. But no they dragged all the home nations out too, while giving special EU access to one part - NI and telling Scots to go stuff themselves when it was suggested we get similar access.

Analysis in @thetimes.com by @leaskyd.bsky.social & Anna Dowell of the sharp decline in British identity uncovered by the Scottish Social Attitudes survey.

With comment from Sir John Curtice on the polarising of Scottish politics and from myself on the decoupling of Scottish and British identities:
Why Scots are losing their British identity
With only a quarter of respondents to the Scottish Social Attitudes survey identifying with Britishness, Scotland faces a generational political split

A kind reminder that a strong, collective, grassroots #LongCovid movement would be an existential threat to those who pushed mass infection dynamics. Hence, the attacks on the name itself, the concept, the links between the disease and a pandemic driven by a SARS virus

The infusion of US right wing Christo-fa$cist dark money into UK political lanscape seems limitless. Hate groups popping up everywhere. Likely all tied back to US think tank$ & billionaire funding. It has to stop. Enough with these faux divide & rule culture wars.

Thank you for this useful info. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 wastewater figs lag by a week & I'm surprised that we haven't seen an increase yet. As you say maybe we're just lagging wave in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿/🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿. It's outrageous that they have further restricted vax access this winter. My closest chemist is 1/2 a days travel away then £99 shot🫣
