Costco has filed a lawsuit against the Trump admin seeking a refund on the money paid by Costco due to tariffs.

I want one too.

Well done Denmark♥️. If one small country can do it, so can the larger countries with their greater resources.
Energy transitions can happen faster than we think:

In 2000 almost 90% of Denmark's electricity was from fossil fuels.

In 2024 less than 10% of Danish electricity was from fossil fuels.

If this is now common in the larger ocean-living creatures, what is in the smaller species that humans eat? It's almost like the latter are in willing self-destruction mode especially if it affects the immune/reproductive cycle.
No place to hide from #PFAS pollution, not even the deep-sea

Scientists analysed 127 whales and dolphins & have sounded the alarm over these toxic #foreverchemicals

The full impact on wildlife remains unknown, but PFAS could disrupt immune and reproductive systems

Ukraine's President and First Lady arrived in Ireland this evening.

They were welcomed by Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Michéal Martin who said "Our support for the people of Ukraine, who are defending their freedom and democracy, remains unwavering."

I must start though with more murder by Russia in Dnipro.

Moscow chose to fire a ballistic missile into a busy area of the city during mid-morning on a Monday, knowing it would maximise casualties.

Four people were murdered when this happened:

Sorry if I kept you waiting. I can't remember the last time I had back-to-back lie-ins, still only 7 hours' sleep but I feel great.

Here's the link back to yesterday's thread in case you too were offline for a long time:

Welcome to THE daily thread with all the news from the Russia-Ukraine war. It's Sunday 30 November, the final day before winter officially begins.

It's Day 1376 of Russia's illegal, immoral, inhuman full invasion. They're had help: first Iran, then China, then North Korea & now the USA😡

Ditto most of thinking Scots.
They started dumbing it down about 20 years ago - zero analysis, all repeated headlines. I stopped watching it after 2014, like many Scots, due to the heavy unionist bias, which appears to have got worse. Now it's simply unwatchable. I barely trust their sports reporting let alone their news.

The OBR is run independently from Government. It literally was somebody else's fault.

You'd think Kemi Badenoch would know that given her own party created it in Government, but apparently not

Your annual reminder that the most revealing difference between Irish and Scottish Gaelic is definitely in the words for December: Mí na Nollag (Month of Christmas) in Ireland, and An Dubhlachd (the Blackness) in Scotland. So once again may I wish you all a lovely Blackness.

Has Nige made any comment on these reports yet🤔. He seems unusually quiet on the matter. He must be just a tad concerned at his political chances if the voters decide Brexit was a wrong move after all and blame him for it even tho' he blames the way Brexit has been handled!
Brexit: the trillion pound ‘mistake’

The recent NBER report suggests the Treasury’s 2016 analysis – slammed by Brexiters as a ‘hoax’– actually understated the impact of Brexit.

Anyone who complains about conditions for detainees in the UK should stop and think for a moment, and consider how lucky they are compared with what the people in Libya can be subjected to.

Thread.
At this time of year, I start to think about my annual reviews, which include (for consistency of comparison year-to-year) an average of polls across Q4. I know I keep banging this drum, and there's a few weeks left, but Scotland is unbelievably poorly served by polling at the moment...

So pleased to host young people in Bute House today for an important discussion on eradicating child poverty.

Thank you for setting out your views so powerfully. We’re working to support families and reduce the cost of the school day - and we’ve made real progress, but there’s still more to do.

Just caught a wee clip in passing on something on BBC1 entitled "Are asylum seekers welcome here". Didn't stop watch but from what I did see it looks like classic BBC wooden spoon stuff - lots of protester's shouting, lots of aggro/angry coices, lots of union flags along with Saltires.

I just saw a woman on Reporting Scotland referring to asylum seekers as 'fighting age men' with the clear implication that asylum seekers are here to conduct a violent invasion. That's not just a racist dog whistle, it's a racist fog horn.
