Shouts out to Max Scherzer, doing it for all the guys over 40 who experience neck, shoulder and back pain because of the violent repetitive movement of their bodies, whether that's Pitching to Major League Hitters or Shifting Slightly in Bed
It will weaken it, but "effectively disband" is a massive overstatement. Removing a priest's formal authority over lay people doesn't matter as much when those lay people are already brainwashed.
Murphy is great, but the "one of the only Dems" framing is false and so SO unproductive. You don't have to tear your own down to build people up.
Am I the only one having trouble imagining Pete Hegseth with that spreadsheet?
President Trump on Wednesday signed a memorandum expanding his administration’s authority to repurpose unspent federal funds to pay members of the military during the government shutdown, escalating his challenge to the authority of Congress on spending matters.
Trump Signs Memo Expanding His Authority to Spend Federal Money
The president gave Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth wide authority to repurpose funds to pay members of the military without approval from Congress, which has the sole constitutional authority to decide federal spending.

I’m teaching abt Red Summer today, when white vigilantes & National Guardsmen across the country harassed, detained, assaulted, & murdered Black Americans as part of a backlash against Black military service in WWI.

in 2011, the president of antifa hired me to give fashion consultancy to the organization. i recommended everyone wear navy suits with tan shoes, dress sneakers, and golf polos with slim chinos. if you arrested everyone today wearing these things, you'd destroy antifa

That would have been your fault, you know.
We like us some field goals.
I think people are slow to adapt to the fact that Americans no longer have the moral standing to boycott another country for its human rights record.

I’m a sewage system. I also have a great personality.
Ezra is just one of so many who have succeeded with a "stable culture" skill set, and very few can pivot to what is needed in this unstable moment. Coates seems like a sensei in that conversation, because he was never deluded.

can you imagine sitting in that audience as a three-star flag officer — decades in the service, multiple post-grad degrees and a virtually unequaled level of command expertise — and being forced to watch this dunderheaded dry drunk give an off-brand jordan belfort seminar?
Ezra Klein is not dumb...he's very smart. He suffers from an elite blindness, but he's more sincere than most. But if you read that conversation with Coates, you have two very smart and thoughtful people talking.
I feel like you wrote some version of this scene.
This was my experience arguing with Ezra 20 years ago. He wrote about Hurricane Katrina, but was way more interested in playing geo-political gamemaster than addressing the concrete problems facing New Orleans. Once it gets real, he's out.
Another way of say this is “Ezra is a nincompoop”

In Ezra’s politics there’s no blood. There are no bruises or broken bones, nobody is immiserated, nobody loses, nobody’s life is shrunken or their life chances taken away. It’s all about performative discourse. It’s elitist.
People were talking on here the other day about what a good guy Klein is interpersonally. He's thoughtful, generous and always tries to see the best in people.

You can see that at play here. He simply cannot accept the fact that Kirk was acting in bad faith.
They are not highly trained. ICE is a joke among federal agencies.

The South Korean Ministry of Defense has awarded medals of merit to 11 officers for disobeying direct orders of superiors during the martial law fiasco, orders that they deemed to be contrary to the constitution and endangerment to democracy.

Not NEVER, but point taken. There does have to be at least an indication that you’re capable of using it.
