And I think it is a dreadful shame to be training audiences to presume that popularity correlates to quality, because it poisons them against even considering smaller indie titles in the first place. After all, why bother? Current player count! Hell of a way to think about approaching any media.

Another seriously neat game that came out earlier this year was Guns of Fury, which is basically Contra/Metal Slug but as a metroidvania, which is absolutely genius. Real neat game, I played it obsessively when it came out. Give that trailer a look at least, it's good stuff.

Masking at conventions makes so much sense I don't know why we don't all do it. The chances of getting get sick at a con are so high we have a cute little name for it: "con crud." That its easy to get COVID at cons should come as no surprise. Why would you not want to protect yourself and others?
