Just for fun here’s a four scene comparison between 𝘼𝙞𝙧𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙚! (1980) and the film it parodies, 𝙕𝙚𝙧𝙤 𝙃𝙤𝙪𝙧 (𝟏𝟗𝟓𝟕). David and Jerry Zucker were so dedicated they bought the film rights to 𝙕𝙚𝙧𝙤 𝙃𝙤𝙪𝙧 so they could reshoot it beat for beat free from possible copyright lawsuits:

CatBus 3:32: Members of Gen X need to find the cool people are at their retail gig. One way to do so is with this quote, “Who’s the best?”

If you get at least two coworkers responding “Sho’nuff!”, the job isn’t as bad as you 1st thought

I feel like so many people sleep on Midsommar. I know I did for years. Like when it first came out I had interest in seeing it . Then when I finally did I was blown away. #filmsky #moviesky
“I Saw the TV Glow”: The story is good enough to overlook Justice Smith’s acting choices and Jane Schoenberg overly ambitious directorial decisions. In terms of A24 horror, I will suggest a “Midsommar” rewatch before suggesting a first-time watch of this sophomore effort.

If Jack Haven isn’t involved in the ambitious choice, they did not work for me.

We are at least in agreement that that performance is considerably elevating the (already good imho) material

You first have to be capable to go hard. Most ugly movies cannot be saved by a 4-star script.

WWE literally killed Mo by refusing him the money for a new kidney. A former wrestler for them, who simply asked "please can you help me, you keep saying you'll send me to rehab, I dont want rehab, can you do this for me instead?"

And then went "LOL 'Mo'" and let him just die. That is horrible.

3 things are certain in life: death, taxes, and WWE being an absolutely vile morally bankrupt piece of shit company.

“I Saw the TV Glow” is a tougher watch. That is all I’m saying.

It takes a painful hour to get going. During that hour, you just hate the fact that no one offers any kind of support to the protagonists. At least Christian is giving Dani lip service, and you hope he’ll be punished for it.

I'll grant at least that a limited-character post on a social media website isn't always the best avenue for reading or expounding upon our more nuanced takes and say we can agree to disagree on whether these are comparable movies at all (I haven't seen Midsommar lol)
