This one isn't fair, but Blood Will Tell. It's a gritty retelling of Osamu Tezuka's Dororo, that's basically Devil May Cry, as you do battle with the yokai that stole Hyakkimaru's organs.

It has some genuinely cool gameplay elements that I haven't seen used since.

I feel like once a series has won a category there should be some limitation to how long it can be till they win again unless it’s like a sequel work or something

And yes, I know Chainsaw Man has won multiple years, and I think that’s also an example of limiting the ability of the award to highlight fantastic work.

My frustration with the Harveys as a way to recognize excellence in manga goes back years.

I love Witch Hat Atelier so much. But this is exactly why awards like the American Manga Awards are necessary. Manga is so vast, and Shirahama has an edge with Harvey voters as a previous awardee and both a mangaka and comics illustrator.

A new manga should have won.

It can be argued that the original Japanese version was maybe a little slow at points, but at the same time it allowed scenes here & there to breathe, and it all felt very intentional in its methodology.

HG's edit, combined with the new score, removes all of that. The acting is good, though.

Just watched the Harmony Gold edited dub of the Lensman, which luckily has been preserved by fans since it never got a home video release, and it's interesting how the various nips & tucks HG made when it came to editing results in a massive change in pacing.

It's essentially nonstop all the way.
