Maybe Dan Lanning should’ve kept his shirt on this morning?

It's incredible the extent to which Congress just utterly refuses to defend itself. You'd think for entirely self-interested reasons you would stridently oppose having the power of the purse arbitrarily ripped from you, ya know?

Why would you allow yourself to become the Roman Senate circa 27 BC.

Unconstitutionally taking money that the law says must be spent on one purpose & using it for something else—when it's to establish personalist control over the FUCKING MILITARY—is about as dangerous a constitutional crisis/failure as you can imagine

The Office of Management and Budget sent a notification to Congress about their intent to use research and development funds to pay members of the military, two sources with direct knowledge tell NBC News.

A spokesperson for the OMB confirmed to NBC News that it plans to use the research and development funds and that there are two years' worth of funds available within the Department of Defense.

seems like a non-insignificant percentage of rage against the machine's fanbase are young republican men driving SUVs bopping their head to anti-oil, pro-immigrant songs thinking the lyrics are about how they wish their suburban parents would get off their back
Tom Morello tweets: "Fascinating that all those “don’t tread on me” posers and their AR-15’s are nowhere to be seen and government tyranny is instead being opposed by a guy in an inflatable frog suit."

Someone named Manny replies: "@grok
why do some people say Tom Morello and band mates are RAGE FOR THE MACHINE and not against ?"

And like the V8 in the Ram, charge more for it and have it underperform so the anti-woke crowd also gets bilked in the process

VW should bring TDI back and put a “Symbol of Protest” badge on all of them Kuniskis-style.

Because they saw, and still see, America as something far superior to the tinpot shithole regimes we opposed. And there's nothing more insulting to them than seeing someone go and try to turn America into *exactly* that kind of country.

My boss is a Reagan Republican and has been enraged since this all started. I seem to remember being plenty angry at that group of Republicans back then but again, nothing like this.

One side note: @lorak.bsky.social and @danahull.bsky.social have been tirelessly reporting truthfully and fairly about Elon for a long time. Trump isn’t their beat, but I implicitly trust their reporting.

Trump is hugely unpopular. The tariffs are unpopular. Abducting people off the streets is hugely unpopular. Even people who voted for this are starting to have second thoughts.

I know of censorship within my own industry because leadership doesn’t want to risk upsetting Elon, Trump, or the segment of their audience that sides with the fascists.

Like losing a fascist reader is a bad thing.

And it shouldn’t be on @wired.com and Teen Vogue and @marisakabas.bsky.social to carry the entire weight of reporting accurately on this administration.

The president is obviously being manipulated by AI slop videos from his viceroys because his dementia is getting worse.

Start calling that shit out en masse. Don’t leave it up to just @govpritzker.illinois.gov.
