Doenjang Salmon Rice Bowl with Pickled Daikon

My take on an Eric Kim recipe. This is lovely, and very quick and easy to make.

Full recipe in the thread below.
A bowl of sticky rice topped with roasted salmon glazed in a rich doenjang sauce, garnished with caramelised onions, sliced spring onions, and sesame seeds. A delicate rose of pickled daikon sits on the side. Chopsticks and a small bowl of extra pickled daikon are placed alongside.

Crispy chicken tostadas — golden cornflake-coated chicken with smoky salsa roja, lime and coriander slaw, and a fresh tomato salsa on top. A mix of crunch, heat and freshness that’s quick to make and full of flavour.

A serving platter with crispy chicken tostadas, each layered with shredded cabbage, sweetcorn salsa, and golden-brown cornflake-crusted chicken. The tostadas are topped with a dollop of salsa roja and fresh coriander. In the background, there’s a blurred bowl of sweet potato fries and dips.

BREAKING: ICE agents just abducted a press camera operator in Chicago.

WGN-TV’s Debbie Brockman was dragged to the ground, cuffed and bundled into a van - which then rammed her vehicle to escape.

What the hell is happening in America?

One significant - & dangerous - thing to watch for is professional commentators objecting to words rather than examining the evidence. It's pearl-clutching & cowardly, obviously, but also a deliberate attempt to avoid confronting exactly what they themselves are facilitating and often cheering on.

“You described Reform and other parties across Europe today as among the 'right wing equivalents of the fascists in the 1930s'. Why?”

“Because that’s what they are”

“This new data confirms what we already knew: there is a trans+ healthcare crisis in the UK. But the actual numbers are stark. The system of NHS gender clinics, which is failing to give people an appointment in their entire lifetime, is limiting the number of people who can transition.”

Appalling.

I know this is obvious when you think about it but we don’t think about it enough: fascists have to cow & persecute decent journalists to prevent them from reporting exactly what they, the fascists, are doing. Fascist-adjacent ‘journalists’ help by insisting that we shouldn’t call fascists facsists.

What an admirably clear statement from the Jewish Leadership Council, especially when all of those involved must surely have been dealing with so many other urgent challenges in safety, security and grief + shock today before having this further divisive and distracting intervention to address too.

Happening now: at Kedzie and 40th, where Border Patrol agents just opened fire on rapid response this afternoon. A woman CFD says they found after the incident is reported in fair condition.

A growing number of outraged neighbors have gathered across from ICE/CBP agents who have closed Kedzie.

First time this guy has ever made me laugh
Comedian Tim Dillon said on his podcast last month that he signed up for financial reasons.
He said he had been offered "a large sum of money" - $375,000 for one performance - and said that other comedians had been offered as much as $1.6 million. He told his detractors to "get over it," adding, "So what if they have slaves, they're paying me enough to look the other way."
But in an episode of the Tim Dillon Podcast last week, the comedian announced he'd been removed from the lineup for the comments he made about the country's record on slavery.

Happiness, humour, truth and, most crucially, courage are the qualities needed to repel the racist tide.
Because its architects offer whining, victimhood, lies and, most crucially, cowardice.

Very good stuff from Sadiq Khan at the Labour Irish society event. He said there are two reasons he loves coming to Labour Conference.

“One is the reception at the Labour Party Irish Society reception.

“The second is to get away from all the Sharia Law in London”
