I always roll around laughing at the notion that Trump believes in an afterlife, or the Christian God, or anything really.

He operates 100% on impulse, doing and saying anything to get a bit of the dopamine a narcissist craves.

Wait...so he's saying he is anti-religion? Does the Christian Nationalist base know that?

NEW @motherjones.com: Nobody in that GOP group chat praising Hitler or making racist comments was a “kid,” as JD Vance claimed today

I tracked down their ages. (Weirdly, it seems nobody else did.)

Eight of the 11 in the group chat range from 24 to 35. Ages of others are unclear.

But… no “kids”!
No one in the GOP Hitler chat was a "kid"
We checked. Sorry, JD Vance.

It should be a litmus test for Democratic presidential primary candidates whether they will restore the White House and DC public properties to exactly the way they were before the Palm Beach lounge lizard decided to turn it into Mar-a-Lago meets 1936 Nuremberg.

as charming and whimsical as some will view this, it bears noting that absurdity—not militancy or might—are what people have chosen to repeat from the portland standoffs against ICE.

why is that?

what purpose does this serve?

Bessent’s friends have huge investments in Argentina.

Elon Musk does too.

Bessent is sending $40 billion of our money to Argentina with more to come.

There is zero oversight. Congress not involved.

One unelected man is sending a fortune to Argentina and nobody will stop him,

'“I will provide a propagandistic casus belli,” Hitler told his generals on Aug. 22, 1939. “Its credibility doesn’t matter. The victor will not be asked whether he told the truth.”'

History doesn't always repeat itself, but it does often rhyme.

I read the piece. You shouldn't. He dismisses the "No Kings" protests as liberals in blue cities. He invokes Rosa Parks, as if rural white people in the 60s loved everything that the movement then was doing. "We need a movement but not this one" is a core centrist tact these days.

It’s because absurdity captures attention, highlights the lies of the Trump administration, and makes it profoundly clear that those lies are being told with authoritarian intent

There's literally no reason for Congress to exist if any random freak in the presidential orbit can nullify laws and seize federal funds. All of this is plainly illegal, but Mike Johnson leads the most corrupt Congress in US history (and by a wide margin.)

Related: The Chicago Sun-Times, in its partnership with WBEZ, is doing stellar work right now.

Including this piece about the downstream effects of ICE enforcement on stuff like apartment rents and maintenance

chicago.suntimes.com/real-estate/...
The fear among residents and workers, both documented and undocumented, is palpable, he said. Residents are scared to open their doors for maintenance workers, and it has become harder to schedule repairs with his work force.
Other property managers and owners said workers are not showing up at job sites - frightened by ICE — and it's causing delays on building repairs and maintenance. Some residents are not able to pay rent on time as they are holed up at home, too afraid to go to work with federal agents popping up throughout the city.
This adds to the already rising business costs for building owners and managers, some who say they are eating the increased expenses connected to ICE raids. But if the enforcement activity continues into the busy spring moving season, property managers and owners like Warren said they may have to increase rents to recoup some of their costs.
