Multiple airports are now announcing they will refuse to play Kristi Noem’s government-funded video blaming “Democrats” for the government shutdown.

“We believe the Hatch Act clearly prohibits use of public assets for political purposes and messaging,” one airport said.

More of this! The answer to every such demand ought to be, "Make me, motherfucker."

Nobel Prize given for showing the importance of investing in science for innovation and long-term economic growth. Basically the opposite of what the US is doing. 😭

If you're wondering whether or not to get a flu shot, I didn't get one in time, and I just had a fever dream where I was in the Drew Carey Show because several days ago I was on the Wikipedia page for the Drew Carey Show. You don't have to do this to yourself.

zohran obviously just blazing trans support this week has been the most heartening but I appreciate john oliver taking time out to talk about bari weiss's bullshit trans clinic article in detail and just how disingenuous she is about everything

My semi-regular Columbus Day message:

Columbus wasn’t called crazy because he thought the world was round. That had been known for 1000 years.

He was called crazy because he thought it was so small he could reach India by going west. And they were right! He was a delusional fool!

But lucky.

You don't have to judge Columbus by the standards of today. His tenure as governor of Hispaniola was so horrific that he was dragged back to Spain in chains to answer for his many crimes.

Plus he never set foot on any land that would ever be a part of the United States of America.

We had Angela Davis speak at my university a couple of years back. One of the many insightful things she said - protest in the way that aligns with your passion. If that’s poetry do poetry or music etc. Because then you will be able to sustain it. If naked bike rides are your passion, 100% do that.

Someone in my mentions is upset because these people haven’t suffered the worst at ICE’s hands and therefore they shouldn’t be praised for being out on the streets?

Yeah, no. To push back on these people we need everyone — especially those with relative privilege — to get up and get involved.

a key thing about vought — and all of these guys — is that they have a totally top down and hierarchical vision of the world. they believe that the cultural changes they hate can be turned off by destroying the federal government because they can’t imagine that they emerged bottom-up in society

What he’s railing against is a profound shift in culture, status… He’s obsessed with the idea that America is controlled by a leftist “ruling elite” - but “elite” isn’t defined socio-economically or by political power, it means something like: Getting to define “real America” and who gets to belong.

Well golly it sounds like you should let long-standing precedents stand until you rule on the merits, then. That is not what you’re doing!

Amy Coney Barrett defends heavy use of the shadow docket: "If we wrote a long opinion, it might give the impression that we have finally resolved the issue, and in none of these cases have we finally resolved the issue."

Boss, we’ve got a problem. Users don’t want this stuff! They keep wanting to turn it off, even when we keep turning it back on!

What are the generates running at the soccer event? (Soccer is outside our experience, my kiddo is theater/music activities).

I wonder if some V2L could address a bunch of it.

If you missed the EV tax credit for the end of Sept, the automakers all are addicted to the sales volume, so they seem to be just giving $7k back in cash for cars on the lot in October.

At some point they will pull back on that, so take advantage while you can!

When we were in NYC on Friday, I was thinking about the street food carts as well (had a nice hotdog at one). Man would it be awesome of those were electric instead of having little gas generators driving them.

Do you have any ins with the GE folks. I did see they had a site there but cold calls on stuff like this without an in are challenging.

There is one that does tours about 2 hrs west of there. But that's the closest one I can find that seems like it does any kind of public engagement.

Hey #GreenSky,

Are there cool clean tech/energy places in the greater Albany, NY region that do group visits? We've done NYISO and the Mechanicsville Hydro site, but looking for additional options.
