Ghosts who taper off below the torso were probably being dragged into Hell foot first but managed to hold on to the earthly plane, stretching out before snapping. Consequently, Hell is full of elongated ghost legs and butts.

i love glorfindel because when you read more about him in the silmarillion it actually makes his role in lotr make *less* sense. he's a resurrected demigod who's killed balrogs and when they're setting up the fellowship he's like "nah i'll pass. good luck though"

In my opinion it’s time to retire the Nobel prizes for fields where most of the important discoveries have already been made, like physics, and add prizes for newer fields where substantial innovations occur every year, like speedrunning
