tattoo guy in rural Maine: Ok, no Nazi stuff. You're looking for more subtle. I got you!
It is my understanding that there *is* a law and prior guidance on this has been absolutely clear:

Feel free to attribute the following to a former OMB General Counsel: The supposed "new legal analysis" is, to use a technical legal term, horseshit. What the law actually says is that when Congress enacts a law ending a lapse, furloughed employees get paid at the earliest date possible. Period.
Johnson: "It's true that in previous shutdowns, many or most furloughed employees have been paid for the time they were furloughed, but there is new legal analysis - I don't know the details, I just saw a headline - but there are some legal analysts saying that might not be appropriate or necessary"
If you get to Upham's Corner (Fairmount commuter rail line has a stop), Singh's Roti (Trinidadian) or Comfort Kitchen (James Beard nominated fusion) are at opposite ends of the spectrum, but both worthy favorites.
Dorchester redline 🚆: Ba Le (banh mi), Ghost Pepper Taco+Tequila Bar, Raymundo Taqueria (papusas!!), Shanti (Indian), dBar(new american, plus 🏳️‍🌈 nightclub) (all near the Savin Hill stop); Pho Le or Pho Hoa (Fields Corner station); Tavolo for outstanding Italian & the best FOH staff around (Ashmont)
Meticulous attention to safety, hazards, organization issues. It is not a common phrase, but used on work sites for something like "we've got some civilians coming through here and we need to be extra to keep them safe."

Healey: Massachusetts insurers have to cover the cost of all vaccines approved by the state, no matter what the brainworm in chief says. This includes MassHealth and GIC.
well, that was an unbudgeted purchase ... :)

"Go to an old cemetery. See all the baby graves from before the 1950s & 60s? After that, hardly any. That's when people started vaccinating their children. If you're unsure what to do to protect your kids, the answer is literally written in stone." — Michael Okuda

Increasingly I go to meetings and just say some version of “everyone here is the exception, not the rule, including me, most people don’t care one way or the other”, and this is why.
It’s cool though, an overwhelming old and white crowd at a town hall held in a majority minority school hated the plan so they think they are “representing the community”

Insufficient parking iirc. Also maybe wanted a “prettier” (ie, more expensive materials) facade. At least one person felt it wasn’t fair for the owner to “have a windfall”.
St Marks was upset Greater Ashmont [I] filed a letter in support, asked for it to be stricken from the ZBA record, said we shouldn’t be allowed to comment. :|

It is small enough it just had to go to ZBA not BPDA.
80-88 Welles? It was permitted for reconstruction after fire ~2019. Just changed hands in June so no longer the original owner redeveloping. It went before Ashmont Hill and St Mark’s civic back when. On my phone so this is the easiest info I can offer:

I think about this constantly
✨ We Need More Yes ✨
I’ve helped co-moderate two City Council forums the past two nights. My general takeaway is that I’m at the point where I can’t support candidates, even ones I like personally, whose first instinct is No. As in No to new housing, No to bus lanes, etc. We have enough No in our city. We need more Yes.

pride is next week

pride wasn't brought to you by delta air lines, microsoft, coca-cola or even the democratic party. it was brought to you by trans women throwing bricks at cops and lesbians taking care of gay men dying of AIDS during reagan.

do not forget where we came from. now more than ever.

At the risk of sounding corny, hope really is a practice. I’m as much of a cynical depresso as the next person. The reason why I find doomerism so toxic is that it forecloses the possibility of a better future. The devils want us to fall into despair.
I was married there in 2003! Gorgeous photos on the rocks and the hall was all twinkly.

We have a little miniature of it as an ornament for our Christmas tree. 🥰
