In a UN speech today, President Trump said that "all of these [climate] predictions were wrong".

Back in 2019 I led a research effort to digitize old climate model projections and assess how well they did. Turns out they got future warming pretty spot on!

If I could just summarize 1 sentence from the new National Academy of Sciences study on climate, boldface, flashing red, it would be:

"the evidence for current and future harm to human health and welfare created by human-caused GHGs is beyond scientific dispute."

BEYOND SCIENTIFIC DISPUTE

apparently the DOE Climate Working Group has registered this website: ClimateWorkingGroup.com.

Here it is, full of information just as interesting and relevant as the report itself.
it shows a 404 page not found error

Every time your electricity bill goes up for the next 10 years, it can be traced back to this Administration’s actions.

They are making solar and wind power illegal to build in the United States. They are artificially restricting supply while demand is going up.

Rightwing populists don’t like the results of science (e.g., #globalwarming is caused by burning fossil fuels), so they try to discredit science and scientists. Then they falsely claim there is a lack of public trust in science.
They really think they can easily fool you with this nonsense. 🙄

A new two party system: the cooled vs. the cooked. Great piece by @jeffgoodell.bsky.social in the NYT on how extreme heat is impacting us.

Photographing extreme heat is like photographing a ghost -- it's extremely difficult to capture in all its weirdness and power. But Tova Katzman did an incredible job here.

Hurricane Erin achieved something most storms do not this weekend. "Extreme Rapid Intensification". Did climate change play a part? Science says, yes.
In 12 hours winds increased by ~65 mph. Only 3 other storms have done that and Erin was the earliest & only August storm to do so.
