My “don’t worry about China, it will all be fine” shirt has people asking a lot of questions that are already answered by my shirt
A tweet from Donald Trump that reads “Don’t worry about China, it will all be fine! Highly respected President Xi just had a bad moment. He doesn’t want Depression for his country, and neither do I. The U.S.A. wants to help China, not hurt it!!! President DJT”

Well golly it sounds like you should let long-standing precedents stand until you rule on the merits, then. That is not what you’re doing!

Amy Coney Barrett defends heavy use of the shadow docket: "If we wrote a long opinion, it might give the impression that we have finally resolved the issue, and in none of these cases have we finally resolved the issue."

This image shows a stack of six lightning bolts nearly striking the same spot six time in only one minute of elapsed time! Mother nature really had it out for whoever was down there... #photography
A sculpted, layered LP supercell at night. The structure is illuminated by six lightning strikes hitting the ground to the right of the storm. A clear, starry night sky is on the left of the storm. A car's headlights can be seen in the distance.

Our entire society is geared towards rewarding sociopathic behavior.
tomscocca.bsky.social
The ability to "be natural" in front of, let alone toward, a camera lens is a freakish artificial skill and the demand for it almost certainly has left scammers and sociopaths overrepresented in political leadership; probably not great that we've now organized everyday society around it too

It's a sign of how many people (and journalists) live inside a media-created alternate reality that skill in the style of televised public performance associated with Hollywood actors is considered equivalent to 'authenticity'

New York Times Executive Editor Joseph Kahn either does kidnap and molest preschoolers or he doesn’t. Does he or does he not? Is there troubling evidence or isn’t there? Have preschoolers shrieked in pain and terror in his office or haven’t they? All of this plus the Brooklyn Book Festival!ghv

GOOD NEWS! Researchers have developed a cancer vaccine that has shown STUNNING results, PREVENTING up to 88% of MULTIPLE aggressive cancers by harnessing dual-pathway nanoparticles that train the immune system to recognize and destroy tumor cells. In some cases, it COMPLETELY prevented metastasis.

We can certainly make the US more democratic. We're currently letting land vote and give small states the same power in the senate as states 60x their size. We haven't expanded the house so that's been skewed as well for decades now. SCOTUS shouldn't depend on who's in the WH when one of them dies.

No institutional design can overcome a lawbreaking president, a Congress defending lawbreaking and forfeiting its own power, a Supreme Court that pretends legal text doesn’t count to facilitate lawbreaking, and a citizenry that votes for all that.
Need at least one that wants rule of law. Maybe two.

It's amazing how public officials who willingly go on TV to talk about these issues can claim ignorance about the very things they've come on to talk about, and it's treated like a legitimate answer.

a key thing about vought — and all of these guys — is that they have a totally top down and hierarchical vision of the world. they believe that the cultural changes they hate can be turned off by destroying the federal government because they can’t imagine that they emerged bottom-up in society

What he’s railing against is a profound shift in culture, status… He’s obsessed with the idea that America is controlled by a leftist “ruling elite” - but “elite” isn’t defined socio-economically or by political power, it means something like: Getting to define “real America” and who gets to belong.
