In case you missed it, an extremely Catholic Thing happened at the ICE detention center in Chicago, and this thread is an excellent explanation of how important it was symbolically.

What Fr Dowling is doing here was not just "offering communion to detainees". A full on Eucharistic Procession is a really fucking big deal. In Catholic theological framing, those folks were the honor guard with the very great privilege of escorting Jesus himself to the detention center.

It ain’t great, a little chaotic. Well a lot of chaos. I’m exhausted. I’ve got an interview tomorrow so gotta keep that in mind. Kinda wish that wasn’t the only option for the interview… but… I’ll deal with it.

Assuming it leads to better things.
