A bit frazzled this afternoon, but taking a quick moment out of my busy schedule to remind myself that every day is a gift.

#FlowerReport:

From San Jose, California, yesterday.

Tilt-A-Whirl and Fireworks.
Close-up photo of a passion flower, slightly tilted, in front of green leaves and some light brown vines. Photo from below showing a cluster of four small white five-petal star-like flowers, growing outward from a straight branch with thin green leaves. The branch is at a 45 degree angle, going up to the right. The flowers are facing downward, and there are two more shoots arching out with unopened buds, with one flower beginning to open. The way that the flowers are attached to the branch with shoots that arc and separate them, it's as if they are popping out from the branch. All this against a bright blue sky.

Hostas were foolproof at beginning of my garden journey but I’ve removed most of less showy ones as I’ve trained my green thumb & made more room for #NativePlants. Still their blooms are always a lovely surprise that #pollinators love.

Some magenta and green shades! #photography
#bloomscrolling #flowerreport
A close-up of a shrub in front of a hedge. It features many tiny groups of flowers in a lipstick pink and magenta and has medium sized leaves in a variety of medium and lime green. The leaves in the center seem to glow in the overcast afternoon daylight. A small shrub with magenta colored flowers growing wildly into the air in a diagonal angle. Various yellow green twigs feature round buds and each flower petal fades out into a soft light pink or white. Their pistils are bright yellow, and one of the flowers is focused exactly there. The rest of the shrub blurs out into the background, into the dark greens of another hedge.

Happy Friday! It's fall and the 'Endless Summer' hydrangea leaves are turning a beautiful burgundy color. 🌱

A close up picture of a pink flower on a 'Endless Summer' hydrangea shrub. It has a lot of small clover shaped flower clusters that form a round shape. They resemble butterflies in flight. It has green leaves that are turning burgundy on the tips. They're in a Michigan fall garden.

I loved catching the bee coming in for landing on the goldenrod right over the wasp.

A bee flies right over a wasp as it is coming in for a taste of a goldenrod plant. The bee has pollen bags on it's legs.

I 100% get why Link did the mutual aid Fridays.

Like, every time someone replies by telling me the need is met is one less person struggling in the world.

Midnight chicken pot pie… but not really pie because I’m just gonna top it with biscuits. 😂 What would that be called? 😂🍽️🍜
• 3 Tbsp Unsalted Butter
• 1.5 Cup Russet (0.5-0.75cm cubed)
• 1.0 Cup Diced Carrot (All veggies same size)
• 2/3 Cup White Onion
• 2/3 Celery
• 1 Cup frozen sweet green peas
• 1/4 Cup All Purpose Flour
1,5 bs precooked chicken thighs (8 boneless, skinless in 425 oven tor 25 minutes-oiled and seasoned)
• 1 Tbsp Salt
• 1 Tsbp Pepper
• 0.75 Tbsp Diced Fresh Thyme
• 2 Cups Chicken Stock
• 1 Cup Heavy Cream
• 11-12 2" Mini-Grands Butter Biscuits (They come 5 to a thing-ther'll be leftovers)
• 1 Egg
• 1 Tbsp Butter
In a well seasoned med-hot wok, add butter and brown slightly. Add potatoes and lightly brown, add carrots and wok for about 5 minutes until potatoes and carrots have begun to soften. Then add one at a time and stir the onions and celery and wok stir til onions are translucent. Add peas and stir... cook that for 3-5 minutes. Add chicken and stir. Add flour and spices and stir. When all pieces are coated with some of the flour, add the chicken broth and the cream and cook down til it is thick and bubbly. Add parsely and stir.
Transfer the mixture to a 350 degree 4 quart preheated dutch oven and place biscuits on top of the mixture. Combine egg and water mixture and brush biscuit tops. Bake on middle rack in a preheated 350 oven for 20-25 minutes.

This administration definitely would jail the people hiding the little girl in the attic
reichlinmelnick.bsky.social
My first thought was “wow I hope this guy didn’t give out his name because he could absolutely be charged” and yup, he is correct to stay anonymous.

This man’s account is shocking. His neighbors’ situation is shocking. The entire Chicago raid is shocking.
On the other side was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for his help.
"I wasn't planning on letting her stay, but I didn't know what the hell was going on," the man said of his Venezuelan migrant neighbors. But he quickly relented. The little girl was inconsolable and hid under his bed.
"I didn't want them to take her," said the man, who didn't want to be named because he fears he'll be targeted by federal authorities for his actions.
"I gave her my bedroom, and I just told her,
'Just stay there. Don't open, don't, shh, just stay quiet," he recalled telling the mom and daughter as he choked back tears.

Enjoying a documentary on Viking raiding and evidence of their living in Dublin (which is apparently from a Viking word). Was not expecting to hear that a #UMN #archeology team worked on a site in Roscam. Alas, finding little info. #AcademicSky #Skystorians

That's a silver lining for this century: hair and beauty product packaging that doesn't scream "you sho is ugly!" drunk Shug-style from our earliest memories.

And my hair is loving this Mielle oil (of course, you can make your own + find smaller local brands, which is good too!).
ebonyteach.blacksky.app
I love that neither Pattern nor Mielle insults us or our hair types on the packaging. I've felt a way about that since my teens... "for dry, damaged, and brittle hair." My zigzag coils have always been super soft to the touch, not brittle.

Even in the 90s, I always felt it was subtle shade.

Random: Mielle Rosemary Mint Scalp & Hair Strengthening Oil is incredible! I love the classics we grew up with like Blue Magic and coconut oil, but *wow.*

I used Pattern products when I had my TWA in 2022-2023; now, as I move between braids and old school press-and-curls, I'm a Mielle girl.

I just got off a call with a group of young people who were seeking some guidance for a project they have launched in their community. Folks, I can tell you that we are blessed in this generation. They are smart and importantly so damn compassionate. ALSO, they know more than we did at their age.

People think the first thing Gutenberg printed was the Bible. This is false. The first things he printed were a political prophecy, propaganda about the Turks’ threat to Christendom, & a popular school text. If you want a parallel to AI, that’s it: making $ from conspiracies, racism, & school slop.
