we should've stopped with DeepDream, a perfectly good AI that took your picture and filled it with fractals full of eyes

yes, just like the earlier versions of Midjourney from like 2022 actually produced some pretty interesting surreal images, while the more recent versions largely just produce profoundly boring smooth-edges clip art slop

can't violate the injunction against arresting journalists without probable cause if you just lie about how they're all actually doing crimes

hell at this point they'll be lucky to have a show of force in a few major cities unless they get started on hiring more national guards

they're calling it the Trump Doctrine, we're guarantors of the financial stability of anywhere in the hemisphere — stay away, European powers, we're doing all the bailouts now!

Japanese politics was rocked on Friday as the Kōmeitō announced it would leave its coalition with the LDP after twenty-six years. To understand why this happened and what it means, I wrote a guide for the perplexed.

the reason I despise Jeffries and Schumer the way I do is that they have a deep contempt for the very idea that politics may have changed beyond their extremely narrow understanding of campaigning and legislating.

like it's all well and good to demand our leaders lead and such but like, none of this is normal! nothing any elected Democrat has experienced to this point could have prepared them for this, in fact it's almost the reverse

always appreciate the imaginary version of "The Democrats" that exert absolute control over primaries.

they're huge losers but also they're all powerful and if the left candidate loses it's because of their conspiracy

like this might be the most favorable environment in our lifetime lol

if an establishment centrist candidate can beat a progressive in a primary in 2026, that progressive 100% deserved to lose

Mills won her last two races in a purple state by nearly 10% each time and when the current admin tried to bully her about trans kids she publicly told them to piss up a rope and she'd see them in court. Do people want a senate majority? Because this is a must win seat and Mills has won statewide.

I definitely prefer Platner to Mills but like if he can't beat her with Democrats that does not say good things about his odds in the general. So long as a primary doesn't devolve into a deathwar having it be a real contest is good!
convolutedname.bsky.social
I don't even care that much about the Maine race, but the whining from the "primary everyone" crowd about a contested primary is negatively polarizing me here. Just win the primary, man.

the Tariff Otaku says that China is not free trade enough
golikehellmachine.com
this is fucking deranged, man.
Some very strange things are happening in China! They are becoming very hostile, and sending letters to Countries throughout the World, that they want to impose Export Controls on each and every element of production having to do with Rare Earths, and virtually anything else they can think of, even if it’s not manufactured in China. Nobody has ever seen anything like this but, essentially, it would “clog” the Markets, and make life difficult for virtually every Country in the World, especially for China. We have been contacted by other Countries who are extremely angry at this great Trade hostility, which came out of nowhere. Our relationship with China over the past six months has been a very good one, thereby making this move on Trade an even more surprising one. I have always felt that they’ve been lying in wait, and now, as usual, I have been proven right! There is no way that China should be allowed to hold the World “captive,” but that seems to have been their plan for quite some time, starting with the “Magnets” and, other Elements that they have quietly amassed into somewhat of a Monopoly position, a rather sinister and hostile move, to say the least. But the U.S. has Monopoly positions also, much stronger and more far reaching than China’s. I have just not chosen to use them, there was never a reason for me to do so — UNTIL NOW! The letter they sent is many pages long, and details, with great specificity, each and every Element that they want to withhold from other Nations. Things that were routine are no longer routine at all. I have not spoken to President Xi because there was no reason to do so. This was a real surprise, not only to me, but to all the Leaders of the Free World. I was to meet President Xi in two weeks, at APEC, in South Korea, but now there seems to be no reason to do so. The Chinese letters were especially inappropriate in that this was the Day that, after three thousand years of bedlam and fighting, there is PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST. I …
