For #HalloweenMonth I am also flogging my #gaslampsteampunk series #EnchanterChronicles #booksky #readersky #booksky.club Magician Leopold Kazsmer has learned the dangerous art of summoning Jewish daemons to perform true magic to fight the supernatural. www.jeriwesterson.com/series/the-e...

Cheetah & Cheshire Rob the Justice League is the kind of book I have sorely missed - @gregrucka.com and @nicolascottart.bsky.social just nailing their own little corner of the DC universe. Issue 3 was beautiful and lived-in and fully realized. And a cameo from the Black Magick logo too. Gimme more.

I realize there's a lot going on but I want streamers to stop alphabetizing movies so that anything with a "the" in the title ends up in the Ts.

Star Trek: The Next Generation started 38 years ago today.

The future began again at this (Encounter at Far)point.
Newspaper advertisement for the U.S. premiere of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Specifically, this ad was for its broadcast on the New York station WPIX on the week of its debut. The headline, "TONIGHT, THE 24TH CENTURY BEGINS WITH A SPECTACULAR TWO-HOUR MOVIE," refers to the series' double-length pilot episode, "Encounter at Farpoint."

Once again, the moderate position is for ICE to be abolished and Border Patrol to be gutted, and massive civil rights prosecutions leading to prison time. Anybody running on anything less is kicking the can down the road.

Today in 1983 Stanislav Petrov saved the human race.

On duty at the Soviet early warning command centre, he refused to warn superiors of radar reports of an incoming US strike. It proved to be a false alarm. If the Soviets had responded it would have been all out nuclear war.

Alan's scripts were conversations with the artist, and as such, highly readable and pleasurable to work from. Here's a scan of pg. 1 of SAGA OF THE SWAMP THING #20, Alan's first-ever issue, when he didn't know who the artist would end up being (it was Dan Day, pencils, John Totleben, inks)...

At school a teacher gave us part of an Alan Moore Swamp Thing script for an assignment. It was detailed, but not like this. I loved doing that homework. Working with @stephenrbissette.bsky.social & John Totleben, his scripts were full of helpful scene-building detail. Inspiring, not smothering!

Out today:

I read THE LAST STARSHIP early, and what I said then was true—it was one of my favorite beginnings of any Trek story ever.

I knew @hivemindactual.bsky.social first as fans, then as friends. This is high, gothic TREK.

And @adrianbcomics.bsky.social does something extraordinary here.

I have one more book out this Wednesday—the full trade collection for our CHALLENGERS OF THE UNKNOWN series.

We did heady weird sci-fi, killer robots, DC deep dives, & existential meditations on life and death.

@seanizaakse.bsky.social, @amancay.bsky.social, & @jorgefornes.bsky.social killed it.

As usual with this issue, Harris is calling for a compromise that already exists. Every sporting body has standards for how long athletes must be on hormones before they can compete as women.

The problem isn’t that we’re ignoring ‘reasonable concerns,’ the problem is that republicans are lying.
I agree with the concerns expressed by
parents and players that we have to take into account biological factors such as muscle mass and unfair student athletic advantage when we determine who plays on which teams, especially in contact sports,, Harris writes. "With goodwill and common sense, I believe we can come up with ways to do this, without vilifying and demonizing children."

It partially revolved around protecting Palestinian trees from the IDF, it features one of Lance Reddick's final performances, it boasts in my opinion one of the finest ever Alfred performances, and a Dini-esque Riddler whose every riddle was custom-built, rhymed, and added up to a meta riddle.

Happy Batman Day - I remain proud of this dive into the character. Winston Duke made a great Bruce Wayne, and I think we had some great takes on some Rogues Gallery personal favorites like Cornelius Stirk, and Hugo Strange.

People legit yelled at me for 24 hours when I said it's extremely dumb to RSVP to a protest. Why hand your name over to a group organizing a protest/rally? Do you *want* to have to talk to the FBI?

Treat anyone encouraging you to RSVP to a protest as a fed. End of.
Deputy AG Todd Blanche says ‘organized’ Trump protesters could be investigated
Blanche spoke as DOJ sought to walk back Attorney General Pam Bondi’s comments about "hate speech," which landed her in hot water with conservatives.
