Thank you to @iwm21.bsky.social for this link. I have to confess I love a good graveyard. You can learn so much about peoples’ lives who didn’t make it into the history books, about attitudes to death and burial and headstones are wonderful microcosms of nature too
Tombstone tourism: Why visiting graveyards is becoming so popular
A growing number of tourists are “rebelling against tick-box travel” by ditching the popular sights for a trip to the graveyard.

14) NEGATIVE GHOST
Lady Elizabeth Hoby of Bisham Abbey thrashed her young son William to death for his slovenliness. Her ghost is seen, forever washing her hands in a floating basin, coming from a bedroom there. She appears as though in photographic negative: all colours reversed.

13) CRAZY MARY'S HOLE
The cliffs near Pakefield beach (Lowestoft) are walked by the ghost of a woman named Mary. Driven mad with grief when her lover was lost at sea, she wandered the cliffs in life, and continues to do so. The gully in which she died is known as Crazy Mary's Hole.

I got my first taste of archival research when visited the BBC written Archives as a 3rd year undergrad in 2001 to research my dissertation.

I studied the papers relating to radio programme 'Ack-Ack Beer-Beer', broadcast in WWII for Anti-Aircraft and Balloon Barrage personnel.

For reasons, it would be v. helpful to have information from a broad range of academic and non-academic (incl. GLAM) users of the BBC Written Archives OTHER THAN historians, briefly on: 1) What you've used it for and 2) How the proposed changes would impact on your research.

Reposts welcomed.

I've spoken a lot about this - I noticed so many uni lecturers teaching online during COVID, using their voices differently and tiring themselves out. The instinct to use the voice changes in a large room, we use our bodies differently.
