BBC asking Bridget Phillipson at length about rising antisemitism in the UK (which actually fell last year according to new figures, albeit still very high) but not at all about rising Islamophobia, which is up by 19% year-on-year

The party once led by a novelist (Disraeli), a published philosopher (Balfour) and a winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature (Churchill), as well as someone who annually devoured Austen and Trollope (Macmillan), is now against English degrees.

It’s also worth noting that no charges were laid against George Retes, but after he went public with his story DHS accused him of assault.

He vehemently denies the claim.

They clearly want to silence anyone who exposes the horrors inside these camps.

So we must get louder!

What’s more, no one should be treated this way.

George is one of the “lucky” ones. They let him go.

There’s thousands of others who won’t be let out.

Who will be detained indefinitely. Who may become sick, disabled or die in custody.

Who are disappeared to foreign countries

He was finally released when DHS confirmed he was a US citizen, but his rights were stripped from him for three days.

Why? Because they don’t bother to confirm if someone is a citizen before they lock them up.

There’s no due process.

No accountability.

'It is no secret that student attendance has plummeted in recent years, with near-empty lecture halls a staple of the post-pandemic world.'

Really? I lecture to all our 1st years. Lecture hall is full, not near-empty. Student engagement picked up last year and (early days) seems stronger again. 1/2

Yep. Grateful I can afford it but restrictions, when NHS is designed to be free at point of use, seems wrong.

I’m afraid that if you emigrate to Dubai for the tax breaks and 24-hour security, you really should give up your citizenship here for someone who wants it.

This book looks terrific and the fact it’s open access is amazing! One of the strongest misconceptions children bring to the history classroom is that ‘women were just at home.’ Can’t wait to read this! 👏👏👏
