Remember, our goals in trauma recovery involve permanently changing how our nervous & endocrine systems function, & it's unrealistic to expect that to happen overnight. We're reconditioning ourselves for the long term. We want it to stick.

This is about consistency, not force.

"well what are the Democrats supposed to do" I don't know! They're supposed to know! I'm not the one who sought and obtained a political position that would require me to know what to do when the ruling party attempts to install the President as a dictator!

An exchange which reminded me of this sad but true cartoon.
A four panel cartoon titled "Comics Future" set in a museum with comics art on the walls. It depicts the following exchange.

ADULT: "People used to draw stories in little boxes, and they called them comics. And the people who drew them were called cartoonists. And they had no money. And they were very sad."

CHILD: "What happened to the sad cartoonists?"

ADULT: "They all died. Sad, alone, stupid, and covered in dirt. Every last one of them."

The comic is sighed Sweater1 at the lower right.

Crazy how with these people it's always AI that's "here to stay like it or not" and never like gender affirming medical procedures or something

“many Autistic people are keenly aware of the social expectation that they must forgo their own needs and boundaries for the sake of others. And while many Autistic people learn to do these things in the name of survival, this is…missed entirely by much of the sex ed that is made for them.”

What Should Sex Ed for Autistic people look like? Not only in teaching consent & red flags, not just recognizing the sexuality of people with I/DD, but also how we can uplift & normalize the pleasure & autonomy of Autistic people. By Morrigan; CN: Rape/abuse:

What Should Sex Ed for Autistic People Look Like? — THINKING PERSON'S GUIDE TO AUTISM
Sex ed for Autistic people usually emphasizes compliance with neurotypical expectations, not self-advocacy—which pains me, as a survivor.

So what exactly are autistic needs?

This is probably the most confusing aspect of autism.

I think the reason this confuses so many people (even autistic people) is that autistic needs are literally just human needs.

While everyone has different support needs,
Infantilizing autistic adults isn’t kindnes it’s control. It denies autonomy, agency, and dignity. We don’t need “parenting,” we need respect 👌🏽

Realistic trauma recovery is going to bring us face to face w/ the reality that we can, actually, let ourselves rest, laugh, & experience non-painful things-- even if someone's upset w/ us, even if we're not where we want to be in recovery yet, even if we don't have "permission."

this poem is about being nonbinary.
[ID:

a long conversation between two speakers (bold and unformatted respectively), formatted in the style of an old text-based adventure game, that reads as follows:

There is a werewolf in the town.
Is that bad?
There is a werewolf in the town.
I'll take that as a yes.
How do you suggest we resolve this?
Well, what exactly is the issue?
There is a werewolf in the town.
Yes, okay, I heard you the first time. Is the problem that he is sometimes a wolf, or that he is sometimes a man?
A werewolf is a werewolf. How do you suggest we resolve this?
Work with me here.
The problem is that there is a werewolf.
What do you expect? Do you want me to un-make him? There are many men in the town, and a good number of domesticated wolves. What is the problem? That he was first a man, or first a wolf? Does that even matter? Why is the werewolf an issue?
He was first a man, and now he is a werewolf. There is a werewolf in the town.
Has he actually done anything wrong?
There is a werewolf in the town.
Was this forced upon him? Or did he choose to become a werewolf?
A werewolf is a werewolf.
I see. I think I understand now.
How do you suggest we resolve this problem?
You do not want there to be a werewolf in your town. As I see it there are three options. You could force him to pick between wolf and man, an agonizing divorce from his true being, simply so you do not have a werewolf in your town. You could force him from the town, which may come to be a blessing in the long run- for him, not you. Or you could allow him to integrate and accept that, in our society of men and wolves, there also live werewolves.
There is a werewolf in the town.
Yes, there is. Isn't that beautiful?
How do you suggest we resolve this?
I am beginning to believe that the werewolf is not the problem here.

Sometimes we need a moment, but if you tune out completely, they win. Fascism doesn’t need your support, just your silence.
