Today following outreach from @thejusticedept, Facebook removed a large group page that was being used to dox and target @ICEgov agents in Chicago.
The wave of violence against ICE has been driven by online apps and social media campaigns designed to put ICE officers at risk just for doing their jobs. The Department of Justice will continue engaging tech companies to eliminate platforms where radicals can incite imminent violence against federal law enforcement.

Miss Major Griffin-Gracy passed away today according to the House of GG. She was a veteran of the Stonewall rebellion and a lifelong organizer for the safety and dignity of trans people, sex workers, and the incarcerated. She came from the same generation and milieu as Marsha and Sylvia. She was 78.

Yeah, I keep waiting for a truly anti-AI search engine to become available. Definitely will switch away from ddg whenever that happens. A lot of ppl like Kagi, but they are pro-AI and a paid service, so I haven’t tried them.

Duckduck go with all the AI search features turned off is pretty good for finding actual recipe sites still, but you do have to be careful bc now there are some genAI recipe websites that can pop near the top. I hope they get a feature that nixes those results, the way they’ve done with AI images.

I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

There is a huge cognitive dissonance with ppl who think that MAGA trying to egg on a civil war is wrong, but who also think it’s OK to throw entire states out of the union, and everyone who doesn’t want fascism in those states with it, because it would be hard to turn things around in those states.

It’s wild to me that during my mom’s childhood most ppl in her town were sewing the same dress for all their children from a pattern, bc there weren’t any stores close, and they were too expensive for most. And now ppl have zero memory of that time? Definitely misogyny at play among other things.
