This is going to be a very frustrating episode of the #CovidInquiry. We are going to be hearing a lot of lockdown narrative, giving no credit for the absolute and tardily addressed need to reduce transmission. Our paltry lockdowns saved many lives. Some of the impacts on schools were poorly handled.

Our Labour government are still forcing kids into overcrowded unventilated classrooms & bullying parents to send them in sick. Kids are constantly exposed to infection & #LongCovid risks & still not eligible for vaccine protection. This is a political choice😡

Which actually takes me back to my original point: that many ppl aren't mentally/emotionally robust enough to face the reality of how harmful Covid is. Which is understandable, but it’s galling when those same people project that character onto those of us who are facing up to it.

“Immunity debt” doesn’t exist, but immune damage does. Children are sicker now than pre-pandemic – many with disabling chronic illnesses. This cycle of harm can only stop when we accept reality – there’s no off ramp without cleaning classroom air.
