box of cereal is like a quid more than it was six months ago but at least now disabled people can't put their own money towards a car that's nicer than the government thinks they deserve

I'm having an 'I don't want to be a person' day. My body is disintegrating and navigating human social interactions is too fucking complicated. Can I opt out and just be a plant or a kitty or something?

Gender-affirming care saves lives
1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.
Study In The Journal Of Pediatrics Finds Trans Youth Care Lowers Suicidality, Few Detransition
The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.

I heard there was a handy clasp
That helps rock climbers with their grasp
Of ropes, and makes your keyring look much keener
It saves on space, it opens in,
And closes with a subtle spring,
The humble and the trusty

I heard there was a mighty fish
With solitude its fervent wish
When hungry, their demeanour's even ruder
They're known to bite their prey in two
They'd even have a go at you
The silver and the salty

You know you're old when you ask for a milk frother for your birthday. Can confirm it makes excellent hot chocolate.

I hope one of them gets ME, then we might get some actual fucking treatment instead of 'have you tried mindfulness'
I’m not saying this is what I want to happen, but it does rather make the case that in order to improve British healthcare, we need British politicians to get all the major diseases.

Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

It's weird how grief messes with your sense of time to make something feel like yesterday and forever ago at the same time.

Love you always Isabelle 🕯️
10 years today our niece Isabelle died, after just 8 days.

Seems like an absolute age ago, and yet at the same time hardly more than 5 minutes ago.

Off to the cathedral later with my Mum to light a candle.

Sleep well, little one. Uncle Nath and Kit love you and will never forget you ♥️

In my article, I quoted something from Stuart Hall's "Culture, Community, Nation," an essay first published in a 1993 issue of Cultural Studies. He writes:

"It should not be necessary to look, walk, feel, think, speak exactly like a paid-up member of the buttoned-up, stiff-upper-lipped, ...

I don't gatekeep transness. If you say you're trans, you're trans. Whatever your gender(s) is (are), there you go. You know you best. It doesn't matter to me if you medically transition or not. Some people will need to, and some people won't, and some people will want to, and some people won't.

The only people who ever prescribe "having a job is vital for health" are i) economists ii) DWP work coaches.

Both of them look at the ill as economically inactive and their concern is "how much money is this costing us". never ever is it about "will it make people better".

It won't.
interesting bc as someone who has been out of work sick for *ages* but doesn’t claim benefits, not one doctor, nurse, psychologist or health worker of any kind has ever made the claim to me that “employment is vital for health”. hmm. just an aberration i’m sure
like prescribing a gun to suicidal people

Imagine trying to explain this to a shark.
It takes 225 million years or so for the Solar System to make one orbit around the galaxy. Sharks evolved long enough ago that they’ve done it twice.
Man, everything is so bleak, anyone got a fun fact or little bit of trivia they want to share

There has literally never been a universal basic income trial program that didn't deliver real and measurable results above and beyond any other form of social welfare, and every time another concludes with the same findings the powers that be go "interesting! Anyway," and pretend it wouldn't work.
