If we do improper holds, or hurt a kids hurt due to improper supervision, there goes our career. This despite lack of funding, lack of staff, lack of safety gear like walkie talkies.

My #1 fear is supervising too many kids and having one run. But the police budget goes up no question every year.

I'm obviously not advocating for EAs to have weapons. Just that a largely female dominated workforce, many 40 and above, are expected to take risks with kids who are known to be emotionally unregulated. We do so for far less pay and are rarley celebrated as brave or for taking on risk.

You know what drives me nuts, as an educational assistant who works with kids who can be double my size, there are no weapons, zip ties, or batons. My pay is a 1/4 of these douche canoes to boot.

A coworker was hospitalized by a high schooler in distress. These "tough guys" whine so much.

Can you put into words what that purpose is? You and the frog have really become icons of this protest.

There’s been a nice overall whimsy that has shown up. The frog is amazing. We had a bunch of other inflatable people here last night, too. I saw people playing Twister the other day.

What they rely on is fear. So by coming out in an absurdist manner, it speaks to them, to some extent, that we’re actually not that afraid.

It also dismantles their narrative a little bit. When they try to describe this situation as “war-torn,” it becomes much harder to take them seriously when they have to post a video saying [U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security] Kristi Noem is up on the balcony staring over the Antifa Army and it’s, like, eight journalists and five protesters and one of them is in a chicken suit.
