this is more than just marching in full regalia to Broadview and praying outside of it

this is very deftly trapping ICE into the position of having to literally - LITERALLY, to them - turn Christ away from the door

any Catholic ICE officer was probably shook, I’m really not exaggerating

Update: Ive been going through stuff and testing/breaking things in this the last couple of days, and I think y'all have a real reason to be excited about this. Sam has set the stage for something potentially truly ridiculous here. All he needs is your participation and buy-in. Give this a shot!

I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

For those not fluent in Catholic: refusing the Monstrance is not denying prisoners the Eucharist, it is refusing Christ himself, since Christ is present in the Monstrance.

If Portland’s blow up animals are the right language for Portland, this is the right language for Chicago.

Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

Mamdani promises to deploy *hundreds* if lawyers to fight for trans rights, create a new office of LGBTQ affairs, and allocate millions of dollars to fund housing and healthcare for trans kids and adults

This is what fighting back looks like--elevating activists to materually support trans people.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

i also think im not just interested in incomplete understandings of the rules but also of genuine slip ups (forgetting to untap in magic or moving a piece thats pinned to the king in chess)
jdragsky.bsky.social
i think i was specifically looking on writing (articles, blog posts, discussion, etc) on the ways this gets constructed and executed, conditions that produce it, whether certain games produce those situations more, etc
jdragsky.bsky.social
i don't think that's bad (and i agree with the people tagging in m:tg's rules, as that's one of the few places with advice on how to engage in this process of repair!) but it's WILD to me that people immediately start gearing up for a discussion on "shoulds" and "should nots"
jdragsky.bsky.social
i find it fascinating how the discussion around this has focused on some combination of:
- competitive play
- moral judgments (in one direction or the other)
- cheating
jdragsky.bsky.social
has anyone written about the process of conversational repair in analog games? specifically thinking about stuff like:
- "i move my meeple 5 spaces" "i think it's 6 spaces"
- "oh, last turn i should've given you an extra 3 tokens. do you want them now?"
- "it's too late now, but for next time..."

It's always good to see priests who still remember there are *seven* Catholic social principles. Also, that noise you hear is the USCCB screeching to the Vatican and getting back nothing, lol

its interesting because this is actually subtly different than what im talking about! i'm thinking more about repairing "illegal" moves or when you fudge to rules to preserve a proper game state
jdragsky.bsky.social
that's a fascinatingly negative way to view the process haha
jdragsky.bsky.social
thank u for yr thoughts ! tbh i'm more looking for "what is structurally happening when people make these conversational moves"
jdragsky.bsky.social
bernie dekoven devotes practically an entire chapter to the phenomenon of cheating (both anti-socially and pro-socially) in the Well-Played Game, is the immediate place my brain goes
jdragsky.bsky.social
this is different, and yet closer than what most people have linked!! thank you so much this fucking rules
jdragsky.bsky.social
there's a lot of game studies documentation on cheating , for what it's worth
jdragsky.bsky.social
huge bonus points if it's in the context of conversation analysis (linguistics) but frankly i'll take anything
jdragsky.bsky.social
to clarify, i'm not looking for "should this be allowed / what degree is this allowed" , but instead i'm looking for "how does it work when people make these requests / what are the mechanisms by which repair happens"
jdragsky.bsky.social
tbh i'm mostly looking for writing on it as documentation / from a conversation analysis perspective / to see if anyone's written about it formally
jdragsky.bsky.social
its kinda weird!! there's a lot to unpack in there

the thing is though that like. the last 10-15 of online have been people CONSTANTLY getting fooled by 'shallow fakes', ie just posting a real video in the wrong context.
