Owners and proponents of crypto have a direct incentive to create chaos and dysfunction. Think Silicon Valley Bank, but the entire economy. They have now bought themselves into positions of great power. Hard to see how it ends well.

I'm thinking of criticism of the comedians who went to Saudi Arabia. We are not Saudi Arabia, but we are backsliding in so many ways and they are making incremental progress. That doesn't excuse misogyny and the murder of Khashoggi. But it does indict the path we are on.

I’ve watched @radiofreetom.bsky.social fight this battle for weeks (months?) now. Can we just agree that democratic backsliding (towards fascism/authoritarianism) is a process, that we are farther along than five years ago, but not as far as some other places?? A reasonable distinction. We're a country sliding into competitive authoritarianism, but as long as we're still freer than Greece was under the junta - and we are still freer than that - I'm with Tom Nichols on _Trump_, not (yet) the country as a whole, being fascist.

For a very long time, the Reagan Foundation kept to posting historical videos, often subtly (and I suspect consciously) critical of Trump's positions on trade and immigration. Now I've noticed they have started posting clips of Trump and his family that are completely unrelated to their mission.

Last November, these states voted for Trump because he promised to lower costs on Day 1.

Now, insurance premiums are set to double because he won't extend the health care tax credits.

Americans across the country want to lower costs, not raise them.

It's worth noting that they're only able to do this because they gerrymandered the state legislative seats 15 years ago so they have a permanent legislative supermajority (allowing them to overrule the D governor) in a 50/50 state
