The Lord's Supper celebrated at Broadview ICE facility. The request to bring communion to those detained inside was denied.

We are the Body of Christ. The Body of Christ will be free.

Like I know there are edgelord leftists out there who look down their noses at shit like No Kings but sorry you guys, the more mass protest looks fun and family-friendly, the bigger it gets and the better its chances of being broadly effective

Apparently there is a No Kings Protest scheduled for the 18th! In case anyone is late to find out like I apparently am!

I'm Side A because I've seen the good fruit when everyone is allowed to live out their own unique, God-given identities and vocations. Asexuality is a form of queerness that reveals anything is possible when we discard the narrow roles normativity would place on us.

Side A. Celibate. Asexual. Queer.
My understanding of this vocation is different from those who typically get the microphone in regards to celibacy.

And when we gatekeep that experience or don't support you, that's a failure of the community, not you. It's not for cis-het-allo people; it's for you to be welcomed home. Come on out into the rainbow light and shine in full color, unique to you and also part of the whole.

Happy National Coming Out Day! Remember: coming out is a reference to being formally accepted into society, in our case, the queer community. You are not confessing a secret to the majority; you're being inducted into a family.

Homeowners: "we pay too much in property taxes. We demand lower taxes"

Also Homeowners: "I can't believe how little this city does for us. Roads are in terrible condition, services are awful, and infrastructure is crumbling"

how do people not see the connection

Relatedly, I recall a lot of "the joy of canceling plans" jokes and memes from the 2010s and now folks are talking about a loneliness epidemic, and, well...

People will scoff at virtue signaling and then wonder why today’s billionaires don’t build museums, libraries, hospitals, and universities like Gilded Age ones did.

You put your right claim in, you put your left claim in, you leave the context out and you turn yourself about. You do the okey dokie and you pat yourself on the back. That’s what it’s all about
kevinmkruse.bsky.social
Collect a claim from one side, collect a claim from the other, present them both to the reader with an awkward shrug and a "who can say?"

And the photo choice -- Noem's looking down ... on what? The reverse angle showed a small crowd and a quiet street. But can't show that, it's biased to one side!

A classic case of irresponsible both-sidesism from the NYT. The story is that Trump and MAGA propagandists are lying about Portland to incite a conflict, not that there are different views of the matter.

"Why aren't progressive Christians..." sounds a lot like "Why isn't anyone talking about..." Tbh

We are. We have been. For literal centuries. Y'all just won't listen, believe us, read, follow, show up, volunteer, donate, or support our work. 😑

Yesss man those letters between them hit my feels. I remember in one, Wesley saying he's got the spiritual and Wilberforce must be brave to do the law changes in the government and they could support each other's work 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

It is at least cathartic to see the mainstream aware of the kind of bullshit "heroes of the faith" those of us in junior positions at religious media tried to fight our bosses over for decades.

"But his classical school model is so popular!"

You see how that's worse, right...

Counterpoint:

You absolutely do not have to hand it to enslavers
Wilson: Now, one of the things I want to do is say: I’m really glad that slavery’s gone, and good riddance. And I want to say that the Southern slave owner, who read the books of Ephesians and Colossians and 1 Timothy and treated his slaves decently, remembering that he had a master in heaven who he studiously tried to obey — what Paul said slave owners were supposed to do — I would say he was not an orc, and he is part of the reason why slavery ended. In other words, I would say he’s a good guy.

The millennial in me NEEDS one of these even if the Inland Southern Californian in me knows I really don't need anything thicker than a T-shirt 50 weeks out of the year here.

Like, am I rigid about my spot or how to load the dishwasher or routine, well, maybe or maybe not for various reasons, but no one else is here to disrupt them so even if I were, it's not distressing because I simply do what I want 🤣 "Do you have a problem with _" "no" because they don't buy _ at all
jennadewitt.bsky.social
Tangentially, it's funny to me as someone who lives alone that so much of the "you might be ___ if" relies on not having control over your stuff, so like, if there was a spoon or sock or whatever I did not enjoy, I simply would not keep it and buy ones that met my criteria (I know not everyone can)

Okay, I really don’t want to keep talking about this, since frankly - I hate KP. She’s an example of toxic management, and I saw what she did to my friends.

But I’m really disturbed by the number of women, specifically white women on Threads and on here, justifying her cursing at staff.
celestepewter.bsky.social
Going to be honest: Threads going to bat for Katie Porter is one of the most 🫠 things I've seen today...

And really speaks to my ongoing belief we shouldn't stan politicians. At all.

Fellow Dems, hold politicians accountable for their work, not for who you THINK they are only on camera.

Keep up the good work tracking religious affiliation down to the specific denomination and social/political issues! Lots of shuffling around in recent years, especially over LGBTQIA inclusion, immigration, women's roles, etc. that makes old data need a caveat.
