The Court not that long ago, even in the earlier years of the Roberts era, produced opinions that made for compelling reading even when they got the result wrong. The oral arguments could make for interesting listening on the substance of ideas. That's not the case anymore. It's amateurish slop.

The reason why there was a crowd of bystanders is because ICE was arresting this guy before the vehicle collision:

By the way, if you want to help from the comfort of your desk, a good thing you could do is try to locate the original of this video - presumably higher-quality - and geolocate it. It’s probably the worst thing we’ve seen yet, in so many ways, but the provenance of the video seems mostly unknown.

The National Guard mainly exists for domestic purposes as a compact where Governors agree to help each other in cases of disasters.

It runs on trust and norms of reciprocity.

Having Governors send their troops against the will of the receiving state creates some real long term problems.
