MUSIC THREAD. 🎵

Share a link to an album by one of your favourite bands. (Spotify, YouTube, whatever.) I’m into goth and punk, mostly, but any genre is cool.

My old obsession with TSOL is back. Here’s an insanely catchy pop punk album: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘹 (2017).

Why take Diane Keaton when he is RIGHT. THERE.

Infrastructure Ontario awarded Bondfield, a small company, 5 contracts worth a combined $840-million. The results have been "nothing short of disastrous."

The Doug Ford gravy train is costing us billions.

At what level of wealth does it become an indication of how big a parasite someone is?

$50 million?
$100 million?
$1 billion?

To "Baby Boom" to "Something's Gotta Give" to "Reds" to...

Pick a Diane Keaton movie this weekend and spend time with her.

Used to rewatch The Family Stone every Fall, even loved her when she picked Jack Nicholson over Keanu Reeves in SGG. 😂

Last saw her in Poms, a cute nothing movie, but she was great.

If you see an artist at an event who is masked, please, do them a favor. Don't ask why they're masked.

They're most likely masked because covid is still rampant, some regions are having difficulty getting the covid vaccine, and said vaccine has limits on effectiveness. Where's yours?

London is moving ahead with a max heat bylaw—but it only covers units that already have A/C. Low-income tenants in the hottest buildings are left out. These are exactly the homes where seniors, newcomers & low-income families face deadly heat.
As heat relief bylaw moves ahead, critics say low-income tenants left out
Though approved, the new bylaw, which heads to full council on Oct. 14, could still face some more opposition.

A friendly word of advice to my friends at the CBC: if there was ever a time to include a perspective with either lived experience in BC or meaningful expertise on then legal/technical details of a west coast pipeline, it was this episode.

Podcast - CBC The House

“Will AI Make or Break Canada?”

Good interviews and subject balance, particularly appreciated Valérie Pisano (CEO of @mila-quebec.bsky.social).

Stopped listening before it got to Evan Solomon because I prefer to hear from experts.

I wish employers were more aware of the business benefits of promoting vaccinations for their employees. They could be a powerful force for good health and it would be in their best interest, with fewer sick days. But we are living in a time when basic health advice has become political.

My naive wish is that even one Canadian journalist, one politician, one security analyst, would address the implications of Canada choosing military integration with an authoritarian power that no longer respects the rule of law or international law.
Looks like that’s not going to happen today.

In my opinion, journalists are not asking the hard questions -- the right questions. Academics have been left to do almost all the heavy lifting in op-eds, which still don't seem to shift the conversation significantly.

It's not good.
