This sums up my position, though I was only born in 1961.
Macmillanite, Keynesian, mixed economy... centre-right in the '60s, far-left now.
Letter from Dr Stephen Watkins; Text as follows:

In 1962 I was a Conservative. I believed privilege could only be justified by service, high taxes on very high incomes were necessary to prevent an entrepreneurial economy becoming a rentier economy, and Keynesian growth would finance public service improvements and a welfare state that steadily reduced inequality. I was suspicious of ideologically driven, large-scale change. These were the mainstream policies of the Macmillan government at the time. In 60 years I have moved from centre right to hard left without changing my opinions.

They are sweating.

From 2010-2024 the richest 1% tripled their wealth, gaining more than £2tn. Nearly £3m each.

While everyone else got poorer.

It's time for richest to pay, instead of you.

I was shouted down at Parliament by Reform ppl who chant "Paedo" at anyone who talks to them. They were with the convicted paedophile priest. After the shouting stopped, I explained. More shouting and threats. I asked a woman to Google the priest. She fell silent.

This is not just funny, it's smart. We need more of this mockery that shows these thugs that we see their despicable fascism and give them the respect that they deserve.

Yeah, yeah, it’s nice for the morally superior people to point out that immigrants aren’t actually going to need A level English, but that’s not really the point. What’s the message?

The usual one: we’re going to be TOUGHER on those evil immigrants trying to infiltrate our precious bodily fluids.

The UK, of course, is a Constitutional Monarchy.

And it's still on that list.

Ooops.

Brian should really be quite annoyed that Trump has put the King of England in the same set as himself.

Brian is relatively blameless here, as he doesn't send his henchmen out to terrorise immigrants.

I've tweeted loads since 2016 along the lines of "Belarussian Brexit", "Gammon Curtain" & "invest in Pontins"...
Maybe more will now understand what I was warning of??

I'm sorry, but if he didn't have the courage to speak what he knew to be the truth about Brexit to the people who elected him, then he's been putting his career above the country all along. How are we supposed to trust him on the NHS or any other issue now? He lost all credibility.

Day 1328 of my 3 day war. Ukrainians strikes on our refineries have had so little effect that most forms of fuel are now free.

'Im Museum' #FotoVorschlag
Das ehemalige Schwimmbad, das zum Museum umgebaut wurde, Roubaix, Frankreich

The image captures a view of an indoor museum with an arched, stained-glass window at the far end. The window is the source of natural light, which is reflected in a long, narrow pool of water in the center of the hall. Along both sides of the pool are walkways where visitors are viewing sculptures. The photograph is framed by an ornate, teal-and-cream-colored architectural structure in the foreground, adding depth and visual interest to the scene.

California just banned employers from forcing workers to pay a debt, fee, or penalty to leave their job.

Bosses have increasingly been trapping workers with debts incurred in training and other exploitative fees.

Now that's illegal in the nation's biggest state.

You can tell an LLM not to invent data as much as you want but it will very much continue to invent data.

Seeing people nonchalantly post stuff like makes me feel like I'm going crazy honestly.
A post from an academic on blue sky that says: "I'm learning about "prompt engineering" when asking LLMs to extract data. I now add this to all instructions:

Style
Be concise, analytic, and specific (cite page/figure if provided). If essential info is missing, keep going but flag Unclear and exact data needed. Never invent data.

Farmers grow what they grow because of farm policy.

We don’t need all the soy and corn that we grow, but those are the commodities that receive subsidies and markets.

If we want something better, if we want to heal the Earth and grow food, now is the time to do it.
