We urge university leaders to respond confidently, with law and moral principle on your side, and not to sacrifice essential and legally defensible DEI initiatives that help universities fulfill their most basic mission to pursue truth and knowledge for the common good.

It’s impossible to overstate how much “abolish ice” is the normie position now here in chicago — just countless random moms at toddler soccer on a park district field asking me where I bought my anti-ice t-shirt. average people don’t like our neighborhoods being terrorized.

A friend ran the Chicago marathon today and said he couldn’t count the number of FUCK ICE signs along the way.

Trump, speaking in the Israeli parliament, boasts about the weapons the U.S. has provided and says "you obviously used them very well."
An estimated 20,000 children have died in the war in Gaza.

Trump is joking around in this speech. The Israeli parliament is full of laughter. The criminal Netanyahu wears a shit-eating grin. The whole thing is appalling.

WGN, this woman’s employer, is now reporting she was not charged with any crimes and was released.

DHS said earlier she was arrested for assault for throwing objects at agents.

No Kings protests, and anti-regime protests in general, serve two main positive functions:

1) Reminding participants and observers that they’re very far from alone, countering regime efforts to divide and isolate

2) Showing the absurdity of regime lies about the peaceful, pro-democracy opposition

Funny they can't say the name of protests because saying "No Kings" makes it soooo clear it's the opposite of a "hate America rally"

I’m teaching abt Red Summer today, when white vigilantes & National Guardsmen across the country harassed, detained, assaulted, & murdered Black Americans as part of a backlash against Black military service in WWI.

one consequence of leading Dems joining GOP in cheapening our antisemitism discouse is media doesn't raise alarm bells when a U.S. Senator invokes playbook antisemitic conspiracy theory to justify state violence against peaceful protesters.

Wen should direct more attention to incidents like these because Americans are more likely to respond to brutality to pets than to brutality to human beings.

EL PASO — a family says ICE showed up at their house looking for migrants and shot and KILLED THEIR DOG, then didn’t help them as the agent ran away and was not identified.

This is the furthest back from the detention center we've seen police force people to demonstrate (note: this is local cops, not DHS/ICE).

A strong statement from MIT President Sally Kornbluth rejecting Trump's "compact for higher education." I hope other higher ed leaders follow this example.

More of this. Signing this authoritarian devil’s bargain would betray higher education’s independence and the pursuit of knowledge.

MIT first out of the gate to reject the Compact. The (very obvi) right thing to do and (very obvi) smart PR.

Who's next?

MIT is first to reject the "Compact."

Therefore, with respect, we cannot support the proposed approach to addressing the issues facing higher education.

This is a five-alarm fire. It's blatant, horrifying, massively dangerous retaliation against a strong leader for pursuing accountability for Trump. We stand in full solidarity with Tish James and we will have her back.

Trump using the executive branch to go after his political opponents. He wants to divide and conquer. We win by treating an attack on one like an attack on all.

There has been a lot of ICE activity in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago today. There has also been a lot of ICE watch and rapid response activity. We love our community, and we are showing up for each other.
