Thoughts and prayers to Sean Plunket who, it seems, is entering the "Find Out" stage of broadcasting.

Nixon did the same thing with the Vietnamese during the election run-up.

There's a word for it. It's called "treason".

"On top of the weaker ambition on methane reductions, the government recently reopened the country to oil and gas prospecting, removed a subsidy for electric vehicles, and disestablished a fund meant to help decarbonise industry. All moves are counter to the free trade agreement with the EU." #nzpol

Note we have yet to be told how much they will cost us.

But remember, whatever number we are told, please add $671m to account for what we have already spent and got nothing in return.

What a bargain 🤔! ☹️😠😡.

50 years ago today thousands crammed into Parliament grounds in Wellington at the end of a 1100 km historic Māori land march from Te Hāpua in the far north led by Ngāpuhi leader Whina Cooper to protest against the continuing loss of Māori land. #TeRōpūOTeMatakite 🏳️

Fascinating how gang numbers have surpassed 10,000 for the first time, meth use is up double & triple, cocaine spiking & gangs are making DOUBLE the profits while domestic violence doubles, but NZME is so quiet about this crisis of law and order. #nzpol

Absolutely heartbreaking visit to NZ's temperate glaciers on Te Tai Poutini West Coast.

Here's Kā Roimata-o-Hinehukatere Franz Joseph Glacier & Waiau (Waiho) River in Kā Tiritiri-o-te-moana the Southern Alps.

NZ's glaciers are in fast retreat due to Climate Change (see 2009 position drawn in).
View up a glacial valley towards mountains, with a flat valley floor & snow capped mountains. Lush rainforest frames the valley This image shows how far the glacier has retreated just in 16 years - absolutely heartbreaking. The place where I took the photo was the terminal of the glacier in 1905

Methane makes up 48% of NZ's climate pollution.

The Luxon Govt's Trumpian announcement that they’ll never penalise methane pollution, along with moves to INCREASE the dairy herd, is a huge slap in the face for our Pacific neighbours and many NZers already facing the impacts of the #ClimateCrisis.

In related news I am presently transcribing a podcast episode covering the OECD's report "Tax Policy Reforms 2025". And guess what Denmark did? Introduce a carbon tax on agriculture aimed at reducing CO2 emissions from agriculture & forestry by 30% by 2030.

After that disappointing local election result...

How about we show more love to @nzgreenparty.bsky.social and @tepaatimaori.bsky.social ?

And start working on making next year's general election a proper showing? For the majority of us, not just the rich and the venal?

Portland's famous Unipiper was spotted at the Portland ICE protest where he played his bagpipes in front of Santa, Mr. Potato Head, Garfield and more -- all while surrounded by bubbles.

We need to be honest on climate movement. We are failing.

- The temperature keeps rising.
- True problem is structural, NOT individual behavior!
- Industry has masterfully marketed individual's fault.
- Collective civic action to change policy
- Say pollution, not emissions
