I few years ago I wrote a tongue-in-cheek guide to writing literary haiku called "How to Write Bad Haiku."
It also has a picture of the late great Jabberwok, who was tortoiseshell with white patches, and whom I miss.
Enjoy!

How to Write Bad Haiku
A humorous guide to writing "bad" haiku -- mediocre and boring ones -- whose goal is to help people write and edit haiku better.

I like this one too, of a mysteriously well-dressed Adam naming animals.

Come on!
God calls, still youthful,
excited by the world

And here they are
the lion, the squirrel
the grazing beasts

all gazing
at their creator who
the artist in his hubris

paints as man

That's a lot of sorcery to learn:

"One bowl... refers to "Aramaean sorceries, Judaean sorceries, Arabian sorceries, Persian sorceries, Indian sorceries, Greek sorceries, Roman sorceries," & "sorceries that are performed in (any of) seventy languages, whether by a woman or a man."

From Secunda's "The Iranian Talmud."

"Boyarin's solution is to dig deeper and 'look at texts as (necessarily failed) attempts to propose utopian solutions to cultural tensions.'"

Imo failure is more instructive than success.

first of all let us not skip past the symbolic significance of “Leo signed the document on Oct. 4, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi”

I always think about some cs majors I knew in college who never read a single book. It’s hard not to feel that the main thing happening here is that ppl convinced the things they don’t like must be dumb and pointless have made a tech to do them to the extent they thought they were ever done

Author and filmmaker Justine Bateman on generative AI
"They're trying to convince people they can't do the things they've been doing easily for years - to write emails, to write a presentation. Your daughter wants you to make up a bedtime story about puppies - to write that for you." We will get to the point, she says with a grim laugh, "that you will essentially become just a skin bag of organs and bones, nothing else. You won't know anything and you will be told repeatedly that you can't do it, which is the opposite of what life has to offer. Capitulating all kinds of decisions like where to go on vacation, what to wear today, who to date, what to eat.
People are already doing this. You won't have to process grief, because you'll have uploaded photos and voice messages from your mother who just died, and then she can talk to you via AI video call every day. One of the ways it's going to destroy humans, long before there's a nuclear disaster, is going to be the emotional hollowing-out of people." - author and filmmaker Justine Bateman from a piece by Emine Saner for the Guardian

This is Clio. She did not study for the test today. Also does not know how to read. 12/10 (IG: paspastotoro)
a black and gray long-haired yorkiepoo sits at a desk in a university classroom. a piece of paper lays on the desk in front of her, her paws propped up on the desk as if she's bracing herself. there are students in the background hunched over and working on paper in front of them. the pup looks at the camera with a concerned side eye. she's realizing she probably should have read some of the homework before eating it.

Fantastic to feel how my poem grows
while I myself shrink.
It grows, it takes my place.
It pushes me aside.
It throws me out of the nest.
The poem is ready.
