Exactly! Like they really chose the most absurd garment to use as an example 💀 they should’ve argued over a $30 blank tshirt being decent quality cotton instead

A friend who raises silk works brought me a tin with a few of the worms and some mulberry leaves and I took them on a full day of work antics including having them attend a zoom meeting 🤓 check out artist Vicki Essig if you wanna see a cool body of silk worm art!

It really is a wild thing! I’ll have to take a photo tomorrow—I’ve got a jar of silk cocoons with one cut open so you can actually see the (many years dead and dried) worm which puts a lot of context into the material for folks! Most of us have never actually interacted with silk worms 🐛🐛🐛

FACTS!!! Bless the burn test 🙏

🤢🤮 would love to show them two pieces of cloth and have them pick which is polyester and which is silk
larkshead.bsky.social
I would also LOVE to know what this person thinks “decent quality” means 🫣
larkshead.bsky.social
True that! Teaching folks about silk production and bombyx mori rearing is actually one of my favorite topics to get into at work and it always shocks students so much to know that the worms get boiled to harvest the silk and those that are left to live and turn to moths can’t fly anymore!
larkshead.bsky.social
Exactly!! 😫 this delusional perspective on textile/fashion related production is rooted in so much misogyny and racism and lack of any understanding behind production and labor! And just blind disregard for reality tbh

This two-parter below is exactly why it's hard to make clothes in the United States.

Let's look at how much it costs to produce a button-up shirt in the US. 🧵
Someone on Twitter replies to me: "meh. buy american or stfu."

Two hours later, in a separate thread, the write: "$30 for a single button-up is ridiculous unless it is decent quality silk."
larkshead.bsky.social
I would challenge anyone to learn the skills, source the materials, make the shirt, and decide at the end of that process that a silk button up shirt is worth a mere $30
larkshead.bsky.social
$30 …. For a button up shirt …. Ridiculous unless it’s …. SILK????????????????
dieworkwear.bsky.social
Ultimately, the death of US manufacturing is about this attitude. It's easy to say "buy american or stfu" because virtue signaling is free. But it's hard to actually sustain a business because many Americans simply don't want to pay what it costs to produce things ethically in this country

ICE secretly kidnap autistic boy during bathroom break—never notify parents.

Mother reported him missing a week ago—turns out ICE had him detained the whole time.

He was helping sell fruit and asked to go to the restroom—by the time she was done helping a customer he was gone.

The editors of the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) were apparently fired today.

The precursor to MMWR began in 1878 to address emerging public health threats rapidly.

We are not “great” without it. We are vulnerable to threats from sporadic foodborne illness to bioterrorism.

Now that the local and national press have started to cover the Portland ICE area round-the-clock in reaction to the President, Antifa have devised a plan where they are encouraging one another to come in animal costumes.

The costumes serve the function of masking the violent extremism to make the direct action appear like a family-friendly gathering on camera, and to whitewash the past ultraviolence.

In 2019, Antifa devised a similar plot by giving out free "milkshakes" at a protest. But they couldn't contain their bloodthirst and nearly killed me when they saw me. In 2020, they mobilized a fake "Wall of Moms" where female Antifa supporters and members wore yellow shirts to act as human body shields while violent rioters behind them hurled projectile weapons.

Printing presses kept their letters in cases.

Capital letters went in the upper case.
Smaller letters went in the lower case.

This is why we say ‘UPPER CASE’ and ‘lower case.’

Ok, but what did we call them before the invention of the printing press?

MAJUSCULE and minuscule.

The government has executed more people in 2025 than any year in over a decade — and there are five more executions scheduled over the next week.

Just a handful of states are responsible for these executions, and they’re increasingly out of step with public opinion.

Needing multiple streams of income to stay afloat is a societal failure not a personal one. You should be able to afford a comfortable lifestyle with one job. You are not lazy.

Cis people aren't angry enough about the conversion therapy case for my taste.

They'll legalize it, and then States will pass laws requiring it, and that will be how they try to exterminate us.
