Unfortunately I do not think that we currently have figured out a way to effectively communicate the middle ground between the old-fashioned purely medical "X in a Y's body" model and the libertarian "choose your own gender experience" model. (Neither of which were ever broadly accepted by cishets)

no, I'd say they saw it like a tattoo or maybe like getting botox or something, like yes you want to do it, and you might like the results but do you *need* to? why is waiting till you're totally sure bad? don't you need to really think about it?

they supported people's rights but they clearly didn't understand why anyone would feel any urgency to transition, why waiting years long process might be distressing or harmful.

just feel like we need to do a better job explaining the need, if the most respective audience doesn't get it

for reasons not worth getting into I've been talking to straight liberals about medical transitioning and these are not transphobes, they fully support people's rights to do what they want

but its shocking that everyone of them did not understand transitioning as a NEED rather than a choice.

One benefit of having to pee in the middle of night is that I get to check out the window to see if there are any northern lights on display. Got lucky with that at 3.30am this morning!

I have to stop and say hi to this mountain every time I drive past. There's a huge parking area now, so it's easier (even if they did demolish my favourite pond to create it 😭). It's such a magnificent beast.

Meanwhile USDA Sec Rollins is trying to change the subject —the subject being Trump's decision to withhold food aid from 40M people—by claiming the admin is focused on rooting out SNAP fraud.
To be fair, no one can fraudulently receive benefits if no one receives benefits, period

Understandable why grocery stores might be scared off. A store caught violating the prohibition could be denied ability to accept SNAP benefits in the future. In low-inc areas where SNAP shutdown will have biggest impact, getting thrown off SNAP could mean a store is no longer financially viable.

The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

Testosterone for trans men? Not accessible unless you have a doctor to sign off for it and even then, not accessible through many types of insurance unless your doctor is willing to sign off on *that*, too.

I've developed this helpful sign for people who haven't done the reading.

all of the medical treatments trans people access to more closely align with their gender are ALSO used by c1s people. They were developed for c1s people.
It's not the treatments the genitally-obsessed bigots have a problem with. It's trans people. period.

Suddenly when puberty blockers are given to cis kids, the Daily Mail (the same newspaper which backed Hitler btw) finally admits that "their effects are not permanent, and once a child lets their blocking treatment lapse, puberty will just continue as normal."

Which is true for trans kids too.

ICE shot an American citizen and food bank worker who tried to block them arresting an immigrant by pulling his car in front of them.
After being released from hospital: "He is now facing charges for assault on a federal officer."

Carlos Jimenez, a 24-year-old U.S. citizen, was on his way to work at a food bank when he was shot by ICE officers in what a DHS spokesperson calls “defensive shots.”

On Thursday morning at approximately 6:30 a.m., ICE officers were at Vineyard Avenue in Ontario when Jimenez, who was not in the target vehicle, attempted to pull in front of the officers.

According to Javier Hernandez, executive director of the Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice, Jimenez was trying to assist and provide aid to the person who was being stopped by ICE officers.

After Jimenez was shot in the shoulder, the LA Times and LA Taco reported that he drove to his brother’s house so he could take him to the hospital.
