Same. It’s not as hard as I expected. But I think through my fingers, so it’s an adjustment. Good luck with it!
I couldn’t live without spellcheck. I have forgotten how to spell after so many years of leaning on it. For hard/long words, I sometimes just type an approximation of the letters I think are in it, hoping spellcheck will figure it out for me.

Small submission tip! IMO, it is usually better to just say "Hi/Dear/Hello [name of agent/editor]" than to accidentally misgender someone! It is not disrespectful to call someone by their name, and you are allowed to do it. #querytip #pubtip #publishing

I also need this. #MSWL
I need an espionage drama series based on a spy who uses only menswear clues to take down evil international cabals.
Well said.
I have a working theory that Ali Hazelwood's books are on a range, much like colors. One isn't better than the other, yet everyone has their favorite and least favorite color (Ali book).

There are also people who aren't fans of lots of color (Ali)

And no one is wrong for those opinions.

Heyyyyy local authors & artists! We don't have the resources to organize something ourselves, but if one of you wants a space for a Fall of Freedom event on the evening of the 22nd, send an email to [email protected]. We might be able to host it. www.falloffreedom.com

You ever heard of Julie Dash? Some of you undoubtedly have, but quite a few I'd imagine not.

Julie Dash is the first Black woman (ever) to have a full-length film with a theatrical release in the United States.

In 1991.

There's a book as well.

Julie Dash turns 73 years old today

I’ve said this before, a lot, but when you’re an author and your book doesn’t sell your feelings can default to the premise, “Everyone in the world was offered my book and they all personally rejected it.” The truth is most people don’t know it exists. Awareness is the problem, not you or your book.
In Defense of the Third-Act Breakup: I love this #romance trope, so my latest Substack is an homage to the bittersweet break that sets up the grand reunion.

If you're one of the people who prefers #romancebooks without a third-act breakup, I'd love to hear why.

My review of Cat’s Eye is on Book Chatter today.

What a book. I don’t choose many favorites but this one has been added to the pile.

Girlhood. Trauma. Made for an excellent discussion.

I need a scream club near me. Might have to start one.
I had the same reaction when I was there this summer. Never saw a driver honk at a bike rider. The great infrastructure gives the whole city a feeling of ease and flow. I loved it!
Hard agree. Editing is the difference between an OK book and a great book. Too many books are getting published today that needed a serious, hard edit and didn’t get it.
An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.
