Going from a party of two teenagers scaring animals off a farm to 30+ characters fighting a guy called the 'Almighty Conflagration' in the middle of a skyscraper is incredibly funny because the whiplash of the story and tone is massive but the gameplay still feels similar.

Taking a half-year break from Trails of Cold Steel IV knowing the entire time that this fight would be the literal first thing I do after reopening the game until finally I wake up really early on a weekend and decide to just do it instead of trying and failing to go back to sleep.

level drain is like a very specific porn niche and it's always so unrealistic like "oh the hero loses a level and the succubus gains one" thats not how that works. thats not how that works. if the hero is like level 95 and the succubus is level 1 stealing one level would get her to like 30 at least

Hypnotic triggers to bring out specific alters in a plural system... The obvious application is to put a little in the front at an inopportune moment, but the thought of a dominant alter getting forced to front while tied up or pinned down... It fills me with joy

And if you explain that in order to fully understand and appreciate both the story and gameplay of something that you should play the first game in the series, it gets called 'homework' like it's somehow a chore to play a slightly older game to understand a newer one

Lloyd does this a lot and sometimes it's a little frustrating but other times it really works. Oftentimes in Zero/Azure they do a major twist that's foreshadowed that the player can figure out in their own if they're paying attention and whenever that happens, Lloyd has usually also figured it out.

This is basically every major plot twist in Trails but I think my favorite is Lloyd figuring out Yin's identity and keeping it a secret, presumably out of genuine concern for them.
