Every time another Reform candidate gets busted for assault, racism, battery or corruption Farage trots out the bad apple defence. He did the same during the election campaign. Either people are so unhappy they will buy that regardless or they really are hopelessly stupid.

I’ve just spent a week in Washington at a tech trade show - nobody is talking about any of this. Like Brexit a few years ago. Even on tariffs, which are affecting this industry - it’s uncomfortable conversation. A couple of people I know well admitted they voted for Trump; I wish I hadn’t asked
