Another sample from the #yuumori reborn as a villain AU I've been working on. Longer #wip sample than usual (2 tweets? skeets?? worth). You would think this would be the lighthearted AU, but lol there is *so much angst* because William reincarnates into the place of...
He wished it were so simple as physically breaking down the door, but with years of abuse separating them, the physical barrier was the least of his problems. He knocked softly. "Louis..
he called out quietly.
"Please leave me alone," came the tiny, muffled reply.
"You don't have to open the door,"
William assured him. "In fact...please don't. I don't know that I'm ready for that either." William took a deep breath, willing his voice to steady. "I owe you so many apologies, Louis. More than you even know. And you deserve to hear them from me face to face, but until you are comfortable with that please let me assure you that I will never hurt you again. I swear it. I won't even come near you unless you allow it. If.." William's voice finally broke, "If I break my word, you may do with me what you will-my life will be utterly forfeit to you." In truth, his life was forfeit either way, being unable to raise a hand against either of his brothers.
If that day arrived, he truly had no means of defense.
Silence stretched for what felt like hours until William hung his head, convinced that Louis had simply ignored him. When finally..
"Okay," Louis answered, voice quiet but so close that it sounded like he was just on the other side of the door. William leaned his head against the wood and closed his eyes.
"Are you still there?" Louis asked.
"Yes."
"Why?" William bit his lip. He had said what he wanted and ought to leave. To try again tomorrow. To not press too hard. But his heart ached to hug his brother, and if he could not have that...
"May I recite you a story?" William asked.
"...a story?"
It was a ridiculous request, a remnant of a time when it had been just them against the world in a past they no longer shared.
When Louis had fallen asleep every night to the sound of William voicing the characters. When he had read the plays so many times they were imprinted on his heart.
"I didn't know you knew any stories." The original William hadn't. But this was no longer his story. And the Lord of Crime had always been a storyteller. William smiled.
"Scene One. The Sea-coast. Enter Viola, Roberto, and two sailors.
He woke to a pointy shoe prodding his shoulder and an exasperated sigh he knew all too well.
"Is this some new intimidation tactic?"
William opened his eyes blearily from where he had slumped against the door.
"Albert??" he asked sleepily.
"Honestly. This is a new low, even for you," Albert said, reaching over him to knock on the door. "Louis! It's okay now.
I saved you some breakfast."
William sat up as Louis cracked the door open and eyed him warily. And William stared back, unable to accept that this was his new reality.

And another from my #yuumori crack fic Milverton the Matchmaker.

The more I write this, the more I think the tagline should be:
In no universe will Milverton actually like Whitely but in this one he might end up saving his life.
#ficwip #wordgamewednesday
Milverton sighed and threw on his coat, ushering William back out the door and into his waiting carriage as quickly as possible. With Sherlock bored and presumably still caseless, there was every chance of him also showing up unannounced, and he could not have that. If nothing else, these two enemies must never meet. And if he had to suffer the grandstanding of one of his least favorite MPs in order to avoid such a meeting, so be it.
The elder Moriarty at least had the grace to look apologetic. Albert tipped his hat toward him in greeting.
"I did try to get him to send a card, but he assured me the invitation had been given in person."
"Lord Moriarty," Milverton tipped his hat and nodded in return. "I believe the last we saw each other was—"
"The Prince's Masquerade Ball...at Buckingham."
"Indeed. Such a shame about Baron Rollinson."
Albert blinked at him. "Who?" he asked blithely.
Milverton's eyes narrowed. It would be funny if Lord Moriarty didn't always wear such a dead-eyed stare. Milverton could never tell if he was joking.
"The one who you poisoned," he replied.
"Hmm...Do you know, my cleaners were never quite able to get that wine stain out."

I’m sooo so glad that it reads that way. I think of everything I’m writing this one is the fic I most want to finish just to see if I *can* make his transformation convincing (and funny even though I’m currently writing a part of it that’s pretty dark)

"Milverton, sir?" Ruskin's voice was small and sleepy as he padded his way in from the hallway, rubbing his eyes. "Is everything alri—!!" His eyes shot open in alarm, bare feet squaring in a defensive stance.
Oh dear.
Milverton waved his hands. "No, no-yes! YES! Everything is fine!" He crossed the room in three long strides and grasped Ruskin by the shoulders, pushing him back out into the hallway, despite his objections, and closing the door to give them some privacy.
"What are they doing here?" Ruskin asked, voice an octave higher than normal. "I thought the point of this trip was to get away from them?"
Milverton sighed and rubbed Ruskin's shoulders in what he hoped was a reassuring manner. "Very true, but it seems my problems have followed me.
You know what annoying people they are."
"Should I send word to Harry and Gosling—“
"No! No. It's...fine. Calling them in might complicate matters further. Holmes and Moriarty seem to have no ulterior motives for their visits. No animosity, in any case. Though...I'm fairly certain Moriarty will actually murder me if I wake the staff at this hour to prepare a room for them."
"I'll check the rooms."
"Just one is fine."
Ruskin laughed. "Is that your revenge for
showing up unannounced?"

Weaver House, the yarn shop and weaving school that has drawn fiber arts enthusiasts from around the world, announced it will shut its doors for good in December.

Founder Rachel Snack hopes that a weaving or teaching enthusiast might buy these Macomber looms and start their own weaving school.
Are you looking to buy looms? The Weaver House in the Bok building is closing.
The shop owner is looking for a single buyer for the floor looms acquired from the University of the Arts after the school shuttered.

Too many people view reading as “something you do” rather than “a skill that can be developed.”

If you want to get better at kicking a football, you have to kick a lot of footballs. If you want to get better at reading, you have to read a lot of books.

Also, it’s fun to be good at things!

the protagonist isn't always the hero. they are just the person the book is about. sometimes authors write books about people who are bad and it does not mean that the author is bad

"You've changed, Sherly" Mycroft said.
"Oh yeah?" Sherlock stretched, basking in what felt like the closest thing to a compliment he could expect. "I'd hope so. I've been practicing sparring with William almost every day."
"Not what I meant." Mycroft said, his voice sounding odd.
Sherlock had just enough time to realize something was wrong before he found himself with a very real knife at his throat. He held up his hands in surrender. Over the years he'd been subject to all manner of Mycroft's surprise attacks, enough to recognize when he meant business. "Mycroft..." he said slowly. "It's me."
"But who are 'you' exactly?" Mycroft asked. “Your resemblance is so convincing that I thought at first this was some sudden leap in maturity on your part, but now I'm certain—you aren't my brother any more than your fiancé is who he claims to be."
Sherlock sucked in a breath. He had anticipated that Mycroft might be suspicious of him, but he hadn't expected it would extend to William as well.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.
