From my family to yours, I want to wish everyone in our community a joyful and peaceful Thanksgiving.

May your weekend be filled with warmth, gratitude, and moments that make your heart full.

This is very green for a fall pic.

You can take holidays. You can have offline time. You can show us your favourite pics from other days. Just say so.

It builds trust in you when you are transparent about even such minor matters.

"Releasing the Lansdowne notice at 6:15 p.m. on Friday shows just how important and concerned the Sutcliffe administration is about the vote which is believed to be very close at present."

The Netflix summary on Grey's Anatomy is funny. They are advertising 20 seasons. "Meredith Gray is an intern (and eventual doctor) at .."

Everyone sneers at people overpaying for cars, but Americans live in such car-centric places that many have no choice. And yes, prices of cars have skyrocketed. Instead of blaming individuals, we should be looking at providing alternatives. Mandatory car ownership is a tax.

Cities are complex. Increasing only housing via intensification ignores the "you can't change just one thing in complex systems.

Relying only on profit seeking private sector actors has meant substantial new home and apts in Kanata North, but all tailored to the top 40% of income earners.

Oh, I am so sorry. But I'm clapping even harder for you.

This is one of those astonishing historical events I’m surprised I’ve never heard about and should be the subject of several Hollywood movies. Imagine being one of the guys who took the Middle Passage *back* and started again

“The presence of Black seamen was especially important for stowaways. Sailors were known to stack the heavy bales of cotton in a way that created spaces where slaves could fit and to provide them with food and water during the voyage.” —Eric Foner
The Underground Railroad’s Stealth Sailors | Eric Foner
The web of Atlantic trading routes and solidarity among maritime workers, many of them Black, meant fugitive slaves’ chances of reaching freedom below deck were better than over land.

Seeing Ms. Rachel say exactly what needs to be said to Obama is so damn refreshing
Dear President Obama,
I saw in your statement you said "Israeli families" & "the people of Gaza."
Palestinians have families, too.
This kind of language contributes to dehumanization. Dehumanization is part of what caused so many to stay silent as 20,000 children were killed in this genocide.
I've sat with wonderful Palestinian families from Gaza. They look at their children just like we look at ours - with all the love & hope in the world.
Love,
Ms Rachel

When we live through difficult times it can be easy to succumb to despair, to see nothing but darkness on the horizon. But one day, in happier times, songs will be sung of those who persevered. Strive to be sung about as one who brought hope, as one who carried light over that horizon.

My antifa buddy said they're heavily invested in AI. So definitely wouldn't want to regulate or limit that.

Definitely don't go after ANTIFA's Temu income stream either. It would be terribly tragic if the entire company fell and crippled ANTIFA's ability to rebuild.

a friend of mine in antifa told me that antifa's headquarters is SHEIN and if the company fell the whole network would fall

Why, oh, why City of #Ottawa leaders have you scheduled 3 special Lansdowne meetings & agendas this way?

Amendments to agreement before the annual report?

Both before Auditor's Report?

You need to flip Audit Committee meeting with Finance and Corporate Service meeting. Then flip its agenda

Nancy Drew novels from the 1970s in my case.

We do broad strokes with frequency. We could categorize routes by the density of the area they service. Then set different frequencies for different categories.

(However, most of my woes are due to realigning Orléans routes before LRT East opens.)

Like how many people at this conference have experienced being catcalled and harassed on the street? Just this morning, I got catcalled while passing a group of dudes, and it flustered me to the point that I accidentally almost ran a red light trying to get away from them. It was a busy street...

At a transportation research conference that is still probably about 90% dudes. We miss so much in planning and engineering our communities when everyone in the room has similar experiences of how people interact with you in public space.

Stay alert for individuals posing as City staff going door-to-door.
While some City staff, like Ottawa Fire Services and @ottawapublichealth.ca, do perform home inspections or wellness visits, we will never ask for personal info.
Do not allow these individuals into or around your residence.
On a dark blue background, there is light blue caution sign with an exclamation point in the middle on the top right side.
One the bottom, in a text box reads:
"Stay one step ahead: Scam prevention tips" in white text.

I wish we had data.

How much does it cost OCT to process credit card taps? How much does Metrolinx get for each ewallet dollar? What if Presto card is loaded by credit card, debit or cash? How much does it cost for OCT to handle cash payments?

Maybe a $6 all day pass as the default charge with 90 min $4 transfer on request with front door boarding only.
mirgray.bsky.social
A $4 ride all day system would be very popular.

It provides a revenue stream. It encourages more than just work-home-work usage.

We'd still need a low income pass program.

20 years ago this month when I moved here, the service standard was 20 minutes between trips.

The 30 has a cancelled trip so 39 minute service.

The 31 is on 30 minute service.

I don't know if I trust 138 data. I reported an error in data a few weeks back. No cancelled trip. #OttPoli
Transit app screenshot showing next arriving buses near my location. 30 Blair, 38 min. 31 Place d'Orléans, 20 min. 138 Place d'Orléans, 59 min.
