I write books. They might not be your sort of thing but maybe you know someone who’d like them. They’re about middle-aged people falling in love.

I also work on other people’s books. The one on the right I am particularly proud of.

I post about writing, editing, and rocks, amongst other stuff.

My grandparents lived in Bromley and I haven't been back since they died (the 90s). I sometimes think I should, but will I ever get round to it? My parents (who haven't lived there since the late 60s) never seem to be bothered about 'going back for a look'.

It's just very bizarre, and I really feel for you about the whole thing, especially when you have had what can only be described as A Most Shocking and Distressing Year. I hope soon all the substack-lovers will have jumped ship so you can stop thinking about it.

It's very very weird, Tom, not in a good way. Sometimes people behaving strangely can make it seem like you did something to cause it. I want to firmly refute this. Do you have to read the messages? I suggest you avoid if possible. That these people can cost you money really sucks, too.

There were people on Next Door last week talking about our general waste collection going fortnightly ‘they put up the council tax! where does the money go??!!’ I was pleased to see other people saying ‘it goes on social care mate’.

You can see Cool East wedge tomb from the ogham stone - although not from this angle. There's a modern standing stone in this field, too.

The sky is grey, the grass is green, Ollie is wearing his waterproof jacket. The stone is behind him, leaning backwards, about ten feet tall and covered in lichen. The ogham script is on the edge facing the camera but it's tricky to see.

The very weathered and uneven surface of the stone detracts from the general clarity of the inscription. The first stroke of the L is unclear, as is the final stroke of the second N. The next character appears to be M rather than A. Only two notches of the first I are discernible, and the first stroke of the third R is incomplete. The first stroke of the T and the final E and I are doubtful.

Autumn is the season I fell ill twelve years ago. Legs buckling as a seventy year old outpaced me on a photography lesson I was supposed to be giving. I'd had these phases before, survived on a part time income for years. This was different. A huge invisible anchor bound my body to beds, even sitting up was difficult. My mobility collapsed in four weeks. And my micro business. I was hopeful to see a specialist who sadly was clueless, results normal.
I worked so hard on my own to build my business and that year I was invited to speak at the Bristol camera club, my heart broke as I had to decline, cancel, refund everything, everyone.
A few clients even wanted more than their refunds even though I told them I was now an electric wheelchair user. My heart shattered, my legs mired in mud unable to move.
Twelve years later here I am, still very unwell, I haven't been to a city for since 2013, too unwell to sit in a wheelchair to travel that far. The closest I got was the MRI At Derriford when lost my hearing in my left ear last year.
What do I miss most ? Bookshops, art galleries, exhibitions, I can't get to my local library but my partner collects books for me, which I love .
I miss it all, an active life, so much.
I can still hold a camera, visit places nearby, I love my NHS wheelchair, my social housing flat, my precious garden.
Autumn seeps in, and another year passes. I'm different from that 38 year old who fell to the ground all those years ago, stronger, older, more cynical, more compassionate, more cheerful.
I wear brighter colours, and bigger boots. And I swear even more spectacularly than I did before.

I went #Chough hunting with a new friend, to the Deer Park, on the #Pembrokeshire coastal path today. We got lucky with many sightings of my all time favourite bird. So here’s a #painting of mine to mark the occasion. What a fantastic day!!!

Such a great place. And there's a secret road, we yomped through the forestry for ages and then a post office van drove past on a road we couldn't see on the map.
