I’ve noticed that natural disasters are increasing in frequency but news coverage of them is becoming more and more sporadic.

Stuff I used to hear about in news outlets, even if it happened in a different continent, nowadays only shows up on social media unless it’s super local.

It also seems to be the case there’s some "unprecedented" incident every other month, if not several happening at once on different regions.

Like how parts of Alaska and Veracruz (Mexico) had catastrophic flash floods with less than a day of difference, but I only learned about Alaska from tiktok.

I'm not arguing this is a vertical power dynamic, as if queer communities should favor us over other queer people instead, of course I don't think that. But ostracism is a real intra-community problem and it often begins with micro-aggression.

The fact that suspicion, disdain, or judgment about my sexuality from queer and trans people tends to have a different flavor and psychology behind it than when it comes from cishet transphobes doesn't take away from the impact. These aren't disconnected things, they occur in the same society.

Miss Major Griffin-Gracy passed away today according to the House of GG. She was a veteran of the Stonewall rebellion and a lifelong organizer for the safety and dignity of trans people, sex workers, and the incarcerated. She came from the same generation and milieu as Marsha and Sylvia. She was 78.
