Martin Leahy tweets:

“There was a bus going through Béal na Bláth once and the bus driver announced to the passengers, 'This is where Michael Collins died' and someone on the bus said 'Tis a bad bend alright'.”

Radio Paradise playing Pink Floyd’s little classic Free Four. “The memories of a man in his old age / Are the deeds of a man in his prime”. I always think there’s a hint of a Monty Python song in the lyrics.

I really buy the theory that this is about a loss of social and cultural power, rather than political power. If you were e.g. in upper management, or a senior public servant, or an experienced teacher, you are used to having people listen to you. Gradually, the music stops.

Mildly doxxing myself here, but my old RE teacher posted some photos from. 1997 and “The Knights Templar School trip to Israel” is one hell of a caption.

I can remember how to fix a broken computer.”

What’s ‘parallel integration’ here? Parallelised numerical integration? Straightforward textbook multiple integrals? Both useful things. Or something else? www.theguardian.com/politics/liv...
