UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

Thomas Rooke first visited Auxerre, France in 1886, having been sent by John Ruskin to record mediaeval carving and architecture of the city's cathedral. Ruskin later wrote: 'Not since seeing Turner's work has anything given me so much pleasure.'

At the center of Viridia lies the great market. It's used by the forest folk as a place to trade with the humans, as it's not yet affected by the Strange.

Isometric ink drawing of a marketplace overrun by the Forest. A few humanoid silhouettes are visiting a friendly looking large spider. On the side there is an illustration of a decorated box and the portrait of the spider.

A quick post to say, while I'm currently booked up, I am looking to schedule projects for the end of the year and early next year. So if you're looking for spaceships / sci-fi illustrations for a ttrpg, card game, or rule book… give me a shout.

I'm Rob, an illustrator, designer, and writer from the UK. With a background in graphic design, I now spend my time drawing spaceships, robots, and other strange stuff - either for myself or for indie games and publishers.

A poster, built in Blender, showing the industrial Funicular from the Manga, Akira. My illustration, Elk Island Light. An orange lighthouse floats on the ocean, at its base, tentacles extend in to the deep. My illustration, Deep Space Fleet. A page of brightly coloured spaceship sketches. My illustration, ISO Grid. 16 isometric illustrations of various little buildings. From a sci-fi noodle bar, to a Venetian palazzo.

This workshop will initiate with people from Mexico, Latin America and Europe to strengthen the ties of stop motion and collaboration and, in exchange, education will be provided for free for one Mexican / Latinamerican student for the first ten years also.

Guillermo del Toro, Netflix, and Gobelins have teamed to open a stop-motion studio in Paris. The endeavor shares a kindred spirit with Mexico's El Taller del Chucho, also co-founded by del Toro, and will honor stop-motion legend Mark Gustafson.

Ohhh, seems like they're similar but radial arms are bigger and less portable. Still, nice! I still need a miter so I can cut some quarter rounds for my floor...

I painted this as one of three alien environments developed for Pillar of Fire; we focused heavily on using transformed scale to create an alien feel, while also being playful with colour and shape to keep things whimsical and enticing despite the strangeness.
A fantastical landscape snippet on a grey background, showing a magenta desert ecosystem with oversized fungal growths and impossibly steep hills; the ground splits and fractures like slate or ice sheets. The text label reads " ARID - scaled fungi - bacterial mounds - spiny land jellyfish"

ooo is that a radial arm saw there?

And yet, the report is stuck in limbo, still not released to the public.

A man holding a GNB partner bridal style. He laughs while they kiss his cheek. A taller man leaning over to hold another's head and kiss their hair while they smile. The image is cool-toned with a lot of yellow lights a peek through some curtains at the couple. the man sits on a bed while the other sits on his lap and kisses him.

My brain can't focus right now, so here's a thread of some works from my Glasslands setting
A blue mech suit pulling a trailer with a red fuel oil tank on it. There's driving sleet, a frozen pond, and a dead birch tree in the background Two characters in heavy ponchos looking through, respectively, a large spotting scope and a surveyor's theodolite. It's just after sunset and buttes rise into the background. Near the foreground character is a dead campfire with a Utah Teapot sitting on a small frame. People descend a staircase in a dimly lit corridor lined with corrugated aluminum siding walls and girders with holes similar to what you'd see inside a rigid airship. At the front of the procession is a dark skinned man dressed in deep red, his face covered with a drapery hanging from a red, ornate mitre, and holding large gold processional candle holder with a spiral design on top. The procession is dressed similarly, and each person holds a single candle in large gold candle holders of their own.
