The new US government BlueSky accounts, for your blocking convenience.
If you feel weird about blocking the accounts of the government of the United States of America (like I did) Just read some of their posts, and you won't be able to get thru the list fast enough.

Someday, a party that somehow calls itself conservative will bray to the heavens about a weaponized justice system, and "both sides are bad" as a democratic AG—or hell, the next democratic prez may even appoint a republican AG, to make it look nonpartisan—tries to put true patriots like this in JAIL
Just the right amount of polite.

There needs to be trials and there needs to be people sent to die in a prison cell. Consequences must fall on the people who issued the orders and those who carried them out. We must make the punishment of these people a national spectacle that will be remembered for generations.
A distraught man came to Broadview searching for his wife of five years after she was taken by ICE at her court hearing. He wasn’t told anything, tracked her by her phone, and was left weeping in the parking lot.

Our politicians did more to regulate Prince and Twisted Sister songs than glacier melting chatbots that promote suicide
We had fucking congressional hearings over Mortal Kombat.
There are no words for how evil this is

Do yourself a favor and read through @jonseidel.bsky.social's entire 🧵on this morning's hearing. It's incredible to see the truth about Chicago acknowledged & the rule of law holding firm.

I'm hard-pressed to think of a non-Jewish Democratic politician who has spoken to Jews with more respect and empathy than Mamdani. The fact that many Jewish establishment orgs are going after him while staying relatively mum on resurgent Nazism is a disaster, both for American Jews and in general.
I remember watching John Rocker relief pitch back in the 1900's.
He would suffer under current rules meant to expedite the game because his between-pitch routine included spending about 45 seconds kind of slapping himself in his own face, presumably to psyche himself up to throw the next heater.

Adding to the GOP's shit week Trump's tariffs are getting pummeled at SCOTUS today and there is a significant chance they are found illegal and unconstitutional in the coming days.

If that happens throws entire GOP agenda into absolute chaos, and Trump will be globally/domestically humiliated.
Rs got trounced last night because:
- the tariffs were a mistake
- gutting ACA/Medicaid was a mistake
- raising electricity prices was a mistake
- unleashing ICE on Americans is a mistake
- demolishing the East Wing was a mistake
- electing Trump was a HUGE mistake

ICE isn’t going after the worst of the worst. This morning, they took a preschool teacher without a warrant IN FRONT OF CHILDREN in my district.

Old enough to remember when conservatives would tell us that the US is not the world's policeman

I have to imagine far-right Catholics are really struggling with the fact that they can now hear this stuff in English directly from the pope.
“How did you receive the foreigner? And did you receive him and welcome him or not?”

Pope Leo XIV challenges us to reflect on the moral cost of policies that target deeply-root immigrants and families.

Zohran Mamdani ran on freezing the rent in NYC.

Abigail Spanberger ran on supporting fired federal workers and lowering the cost of living in VA.

Mikie Sherrill ran on lowering utility bills in NJ.

Ensuring people can afford to live a decent life is the path forward.

"'They’re spending more money than I would even tax them,' [Mamdani] said in an interview with MSNBC last week."

This is the message. Make it clear that these billionaires aren't just worried about losing money. They're worried about losing the ability to exchange their money for power.

Trump is going to triple down on his authoritarian tactics after voters rejected his election rigging plans

Key point from @leahgreenberg.bsky.social: “They’re gonna try 5x harder to sabotage midterms after tonight & we’re gonna have to organize on literally historic scale to stop them”
Last night was huge rejection of Trump's plan to rig midterms:

-CA passes prop 50, giving Dems up to 5 new seats

-VA elects Dem gov & leg, boosting redistricting chances

-ME voters defeat voter suppression initiative

-Dems retain majority PA Supreme Court

Voters soundly reject Trump's plot to rig the next election
On Tuesday, Democrats passed new congressional maps, defeated GOP attempts to make it harder to vote, and protected pro-democracy judges.

Again, these maps have got to be causing a massive panic in any state where they're considering gerrymandering.
“.. There were no counties or cities (as of writing) that moved right relative to four years ago. On average, they instead moved 13 points to the left.”

v pleased Sotomayor just said this same damn thing at oral argument in the tariffs case like UM didn't we say in the student loans case??

DOJ said this is different bc there's a foreign emergency; Sotomayor said ok bet, so we say global warming is an emergency and then we can have loan forgiveness?
Every time I see Trump claim vast powers over economic policy that the Constitution does not give him, often only for the Supreme Court to step in and go 'seems legit,' I can't help but think about the Court carrying on as if canceling some student loan debt was shocking executive overreach

In a trio of cases, two currently pending before the Supreme Court and one that is likely to land on the justices’ doorstep as soon as Tuesday, President Donald Trump claims new powers that, if he prevails, would give him near-total control over all US fiscal and monetary policy.
