There are no words for how evil this is
(Destiny of the Republic is one of my favorite non-fiction books and I’m so glad the new Netflix show is living up to the source material!!!)
Right!! Telling the new mayor to know his place, essentially…what the fuck!!
“His tone was especially unbecoming for an immigrant” is a stunningly fucked-up thing to think, let alone put out into the world. It’s nasty work, even by the Post’s standards
When Republicans win elections: The people have spoken, we must let them implement their agenda.

When Democrats win elections: This totalitarian FREAK must be prevented from implementing the policies he ran on

With all the excitement about the election I don’t want this story to get lost. This morning 8 car wash workers in Boston were kidnapped by federal agents in the largest workplace raid in the area in recent memory.

The details are horrifying.

Many of them held legal status but were unable to immediately produce their documentation to the agents, according to their manager.

Can’t stop thinking about all the robber baron fucks that held secret meetings and spent MILLIONS AND MILLIONS in bribes and campaign investments and attack ads and media manipulation trying to tank Mamdani currently having the dawning realization that their money is completely and utterly useless.

Two candidates that NYC *already* experienced and deemed *both* to be unfit. These men had their chance and failed. The fact that they’re still on the ballot is public money laundering.
If Democrats had it their way, we would've ignored Mamdani and let this be a race between Adams and Cuomo.

Two candidates that have "experience" and establishment support, and were promising to give us NOTHING but more awfulness.

In addition to the fact that Cuomo is a creep, he devised a system to keep Republicans in control of the NYS legislature for years. He constantly fucked over New York City as governor, even though we are 45% of the state’s population, because he was so preoccupied with upstate conservatives.

People opposed to your political project don't want that project to succeed. Why would you listen to their advice?

This entire "the Dems need to abandon identity and focus on economics!" discourse is being driven by rich assholes who would melt down at the slightest hint of higher taxes on the wealthy or more welfare for the poor. Look how they're treating Mamdani! It's cynical bullshit all the way down.

We literally do disagree about this, though. Some politicians want to take food from children and some politicians don't. Pretending this "isn't political" just allows the child-starving ghouls to get away with it.

Tell people who supports the *political program* to feed children and who doesn't!

It is astonishingly ugly. People I once thought were decent are spouting delusional, baseless, vile stuff about what they "know" Mamdani believes and about what he's going to do. In NYC, this has turned into a real "Well, now we all know who we are" election. There'll be no bridging that rift.
I really like how Zohran Mamdani has run a campaign that is so focused on making New York City a safe (including from the fascism of our current federal government) and affordable place for all its residents, and I am really appalled by how racist so much of the opposition to his candidacy has been.

Today was a hard day. Regulations that we passed unanimously last year, after 7 years of advocacy, were largely gutted. The FCC capitulated to the correctional telecom industry in roughly doubling rate caps for prison and jail calls. I'm truly sorry.

Mamdani did this without tacking to the center by accepting republican framing and throwing marginalized people under the bus or even apologizing for being socialist; something that party operatives who actually want to win might learn from.
Across the city, more than 164,000 New Yorkers flocked to the polls this weekend for the first two days of early voting, according to the Board of Election, a staggering turnout that nearly matches the entire early voting count in 2021.

Turnout was massive across all five boroughs, with voters telling THE CITY that they were motivated to vote for — and against — the Democratic nominee.
