I love how the orthodox answer to all policy problems in the English-speaking world is “moar capitalism”

Learnt today that dog is unlikely to take on a snake. The local blue tongue gave him a trial run and he kept his distance

I’d like to think the use to which the information he stole was ultimately put has to upset him

Here I was thinking the politicians and press just organised their own sporting things. How naive am I?

It's not corruption in any legal sense but it still corrupts the democratic system.

It doesn't hurt that when they do formal lobbying, they have a personal relationship with the politicians.
rantlaw.bsky.social
Every committee member of every community sports club wishes it was as easy for them to get sponsorship as the politicians do.
Also, the excuses for this are absolute bullshit. Proximity is power and these corporates are paying for proximity.

I guess I actually have to write that advice now

“Someone” cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second.

We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’
rantlaw.bsky.social
I think that's a fair bet

Or they could walk or catch a tram?

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

This would be funny if there was not a real possibility they were waterboarding someone right now

lest anyone think the girlfriend line was a hilarious joke I concocted...

We pay to have someone on reception but that is easier to manage
rantlaw.bsky.social
One of the great things about my floor is that there is someone on reception. I think it helps to have that, particularly if barristers don't have their own assistants (as I don't because my practice isn't successful enough for me to afford one).

Determining the intention of contracting parties is going to be particularly challenging.

The one problem with it all is that there will be execs at clients continually asking why their lawyers aren't saving money by running their case through AI
rantlaw.bsky.social
Well, for those of us at the litigation back end, I would say that's very much correct

All this thread has told me is that vibe lawyering = future litigation and that can't be a bad thing

The bros are at it again! and make no mistake, they are LITERALLY calling it "Vibe Lawyering"

Mine is the Burchfield one but I still find it useful

I do. I still like the hard copy

Old enough to be a father

I know there are time issues but, just moving on has made me cringe.
Politicians and lawyers, we are not the same.

David Pocock asks Don Farrell some serious questions about why the govt has not implemented an important recommendation from the #RobodebtRC.
Farrell caught playing on his phone, not even paying attention.🙄 Pocock hasn’t the patience to try again & moves on. #Estimates

(Yes, I have hard copies of both. In the latter case, it is the SOED)

Folks, I have resorted to my copy of Fowlers and the OED
