From the song,
"We are the dwelling of God
Fragile and wounded and weak
We are the body of Christ
Called to be the compassion of God

Pan de Vida, cuerpo del Señor
Cup of blessing, blood of Christ the Lord
At this table the last shall be first
Poder es servir, porque Dios es amor"

I have a rocky relationship with the Catholic Church, but watching the video of them being denied made me so sad. They were singing Pan de Vida in the background, a song I loved when I used to be in the church choir with mom and dad as a kid.

Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

I play with a group of Dnd-or-nothing guys. Once, I got them to try HoneyHeist. It was like 3 yrs ago, but we still have jokes from that session that will reduce the table to tears. New players are regaled with the tale of The Best Driver and feeling bad about accidentally mauling a security guard

Some of the biggest stories come from the smallest packages.

What's a micro-RPG, one-page #TTRPG, or a #zine game that delivered an experience way bigger and more memorable than its tiny size would ever suggest? We NEED to hear all about the tiny titan that gave you an epic evening!

Tech rehearsal night! It's such a cool opportunity to get to play at the Moody Performance Hall :)

If you want to support a queer community band here in Dallas as we celebrate 45 years, there's still a chance to buy tickets before the concert tomorrow :)

The empty Moody Performance Hall in Dallas Texas with lights up - In the foreground are empty seats and folded stands waiting for performers downstairs. The empty hall holds the promise of 750 seats.

Every other attempt at eating out since wearing a CGM and actually having the data has been so frustrating that I figured this was just something else I couldn't have anymore. It's been a journey lol

So, I'm diabetic now & still quite angry. But you know what wasnt on my bingo card? Cheesecake Factory has an *actual* low carb/low sugar menu that tastes good. My blood sugar didnt spike and stayed in range the whole night. Cheesecake Factory of all places lol.

I've been enjoying and listening to Shadows in the Smoke played bt Kitten Marlowe lately. I don't know if it's a quirk of the rule system or the players, but hearing "it's worse than that" when the GM essentially takes a hard move just makes me very happy haha

Spooky season approaches, so I'm going to repost some of my Halloween comics from years past.
A four panel comic called Happy Halloween From The Birds. In panel 1, a pileated woodpecker has pecked its huge gaping rectangular holes in a pumpkin. In panel 2, a yellow-bellied sapsucker has pecked a face using its standard rows of small holes. In panel 3, a satin bowerbird has carved a pumpkin into a bower and placed its favorite blue candies all around it. In panel 4, a loggerhead shrike has impaled mini pumpkins on a fence's metal spikes and is saying "fight me."

My nephew (17) walked in and declared, "you know, I used to be really impressed with how doctors wash their hands, but then I learned they're just like, doing what they're taught. *scoff*" and then left.

I have so many questions but none will be answered lol

Journals eventually get weird for me, so I like doing solo journaling RPGs as a way to have that introspective time. Because of mom, Anamnesis was a favorite for me. Might be a bit before I go back to it, but definitely recommend if you're looking for a solo.

I managed to get a Nightvale quote and a Pratchett quote into my mom's eulogy. I think she would have appreciated it :) Before Alzheimer's, she loved satire, comedy, fantasy, and anything that made a good story.

My mom died yesterday. With both parents gone I feel ...I don't know, unmoored is the word that comes to mind. Adrift. At 38, it feels too soon for both to be gone, but here we are.

I finished Jonathan Abernathy You Are Kind by Molly McGhee and man...

Oh Abernathy, how I have, at times, both been you and known you in my near 20 years of corporate American life lol

Was listening to a rewind radiolab, and you know, it feels like newer episodes just don't have as many fun, wacky audio cues. I have no idea if that's true or just recency bias lol

Well that sounds like a pretty good reason to follow :D

I wrote about how the Everglades experiment fits into the history of concentration camps in the US and abroad, and how it will connect a domestic network of camps to an international one. We’re watching the imposition of a global concentration camp network.
Opinion | Don’t call it ‘Alligator Alcatraz.’ Call it a concentration camp.
This facility’s purpose fits the classic model, and its existence points to serious dangers ahead for the country.
