in case you need a reminder. or a dragon.
An art print sits above the head of a red and orange Lego dragon, from the DnD set. The print had a medieval frame around it in rainbow coloring. The text, also in medieval fonts and rainbow coloring reads “I am gonna make it through this year if it kills me” A small crochet goblin and mushroom and assorted things on the shelf.

If you zoom in, you can see a smaller print from the same artist (link below and in reply to this), also medieval design, there’s a knight with the trans flag colors on their cloak, it’s putting a jousting lance through a dragon’s gullet. Text on it reads “A world without trans people has never existed and never will.”

“No Kings” is great , but we really don't get a functioning democracy back until we internalize, bone deep, the instinctive response to this and every other statement like it: “I don’t care what that rich guy thinks.”

Make it your morning affirmation. Say it ten times at the top of every hour.

That review is exactly how I feel! I think I kept putting it off because of how long it was, but totally forgot last night and hit play lol. I have so many movies I need to watch now and books I need to add to my list!

I also still know my ex’s social security number. Literally can’t remember the date we got married though lol.

Brains love repetition. Really cements numbers and facts up there when done enough, sometimes whether you like it or not.

I can call dead people and phone numbers in NJ that no longer belong to the people they once did.

In an emergency, I could call my sister and ex. Both are in Texas. I could also call Empire Today or Ask Gary.

Really need to add a routine of memorizing at least the numbers for those closest to me.

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

soooo my Chicagoans, has anyone else's neighborhood facebook group gone from desperately apolitical (regarding federal politics) to at least 40% about ICE/DHS activity and organizing against it? like it's hard to overstate this shift

It’s so exhausting to still see them ignoring what was essentially a crystal ball of what was to come, and to still make fun of Florida with each news story out of here.

People say this because they have ignored what’s happening in the fascist state of Florida, where when Dems do happen to get elected, DeSantis comes up with a pretext for removal from office. When local Dems pass a law he doesn’t like, he makes a state level law to reneg it. Etc.

As a reader I am so utterly sick of BookTok-chasing gimmicks, especially when every week I see a multi-award winning author talk about how they can't make ends meet and how they've had multiple books the publisher just...hasn't promoted.

I want to know about *more books*. Not garlic-scented books?

I am seeing a lot of people reposting Lakota Man today bc it's Indigenous Peoples Day. A reminder that he is not well liked amongst many (most?) Natives on social media. Many of us blocked him a long time ago. Some of the reasons why are in this article.

www.dailydot.com/irl/lakotama...
Who is LakotaMan, the user behind one of the most popular Native American accounts on X?
John Martin is adored by white X users—but infamous among Native and Indigenous communities.

these Italians too, who spit on Mussolini’s corpse, and most specifically the woman who “shot five times into the body saying:
'Five shots for my five assassinated sons.’”
'Thirst for vengeance'
Milan radio said that a large crowd gathered in Piazza Loreto to see the bodies, 18 in number. It was here that the fascists recently murdered 15 patriots. The radio, describing the scene, said according to the British United Press: "From the entrance of the Piazza it is impossible to move because the crowd is so great. It is interesting to see the hate, the fury of those around. People spit upon the body, but that is only a continuation of the justice he should have suffered. He died too quickly.
"One woman shot five times into the body saying:
'Five shots for my five assassinated sons? All approve and want more. They want the bodies to stay there for six months, and that is not enough.
Never has so much hate, rancour, and thirst for vengeance been seen. This is justice. This is a good example and it will be followed by others."

Day 13: In the Woods Somewhere – Hozier

When I awoke
The moon still hung
The night so black
That the darkness hums

I raised myself
My legs were weak
I prayed my mind
Be good to me

An awful noise
Filled the air
I heard a scream
In the woods somewhere
